The prototype video was 'pushing the limits' and they're trying to enhance stability from what I'm seeing at the moment. It's a slow process, but I'm sure they'll get to those things eventually. ;) – AzimuthDragon, on November 23, 2008 09:20

I know what you mean, but that's what we're here for, to make it better, right? ;) You might create a CrowdSound topic so users can vote on more interface functions, too, such as the 'Same Size' button, lol. – AzimuthDragon, on November 23, 2008 09:19

Bumptop uses about 72,724 K on my system, dunno about yours, but it's also probably your processor, try changing your Maximum Images Texture Square to less than what it's at under the Visuals tab, I think that should free some video memory, unchecking Vsync and anti-aliasing would probably result in a speed increase as well. Bumptop runs slow now and then on my own laptop, its just usually when the program has been idle for a long time, or the computer gets busy. Your widgets probably wont work at the moment because Bumptop graphics are probably displayed exactly like the ones in video games, the blinking is due to the two apps 'battling' per se, for the top-level status. Make sure you send feedback@bumptop.com info about it, too. I have the same problem with system tray tooltips. x.=.x
As for the Infinite Bumptop background, I'm pretty sure it can be altered in theme.json in your current theme's directory in C:\Program Files\Bumptop\Themes or something to that extent. – AzimuthDragon, on November 23, 2008 09:15

You know you can zoom in on walls, right? Just double click on any wall and you can place icons wherever. As for the tilt of the camera in and of itself, i agree at some point it would be nice to change it manually in the Settings dialogue. – AzimuthDragon, on November 23, 2008 09:10

Selecting the pile and changing the size will change all icons at once. What I also do is simply make it as small as possible, and keep pressing the 'Shrink' button/hotkey until all icons are the same size, then just enlarge to desired size. The mouse wheel would have the same effect, i think, just make it all tiny and then grow to the desired size. ;) – AzimuthDragon, on November 23, 2008 09:09

A comment on the question "Beta 15 won't update to Beta 16" in BumpTop:
While in Bumptop, press F1, it will give you the version info. You might also have to select 'Use Internet Explorer Settings' or something of the like in Settings to allow Bumptop to connect to the internet, on mine it always defaults to the manual proxy option. – AzimuthDragon, on November 23, 2008 05:19
AzimuthDragon replied on November 23, 2008 05:16 to the question "How much will bumptop cost when relesed?" in BumpTop:
I do want Bumptop to be free, but I totally understand that, as a programmer, it can feel a bit... odd to release something you devote a LOT of time and work to and get little or no reward for it. Now obviously Bumptop will be some sort of commercial product, I wish it wasn't going to be, but if the price is reasonable and if I wanted it bad enough I'd save up to get it.
My suggestion to all of you who are annoyed that it might not be 100% free is to stop whining if you aren't willing to round up money to get it. You don't need to spam the rest of us with your complaints if you aren't willing to at least try and do something to earn the money, be it a job or mowing lawns if that's what works for you.
@ Anand and team,
I suggest that perhaps an incentive (if it does go commercial) to purchase the 'Bump Pro Package' would be lifetime upgrades, perhaps? I love Bumptop, but I would be greatly disappointed if I say bought it and then had to purchase an upgrade for it. :(
Great work though, Bumptop is an amazing piece of software, and it's increased my productivity a hundredfold, no joke or exaggeration, either.

Actually, I remove the slipping icons from my list:
#1 Annoyance: No Crumple - I can't crumple up an unneeded icon and toss it in the corner because I will need it later, but not at the moment.
#2 Annoyance: Sticky Notes - The font and layout of the text is constantly going off the sticky note, and the limited square shape is causing the text to be hyphenated, and makes it impossible to read my note because the text is too large and doesnt fit on the icon.
#3 Annoyance: Windows (As described in my last post)
AzimuthDragon replied on November 20, 2008 02:35 to the question "What are the 3 most annoying things about BumpTop?" in BumpTop:
1. Icons slipping
2. No crumple/peel (These would be my absolute favorite features if I had them. :\
3. Not being able to drop windows onto the desktop.
If you were to fix these, I'd definitely want Crumple, then icon slipping fixed afterward. It's frustrating sometimes when such an intuitive and useful interface doesn't mimic one of the key elements of my desk. The windows in Bumptop (App windows, I mean) would be at the bottom of my list of things I want to see.
I love Bumptop, just wish you'd bring crumple back.-

Keep in mind that things like this may not be included in the final release. I bet there will be a plug-in system for developers, but I highly doubt the team would go so far as to make an official refrigerator when the point of Bumptop is to mimic a desk, not a kitchen. It is a good idea, some would absolutely love it, I for one just thought of a little coffee pot that's also an alarm for different events because you know, coffee fuels everything, but it's a novelty, not a necessity. I'd rather have a working, stable version of Bumptop than a buggy refrigerator-ed version. ;)
