An example of a market that was suspended for most of this day, with no explanation until 20-someodd comments spurred the moderator to say something: http://www.hubdub.com/e/Market/Who_Wi....

Your only point is that "a temperature of -54 f was registered", which there is no evidence of. We have a news report that the area experienced WIND CHILLS of -54 f.

A wind chill of -54 f does not mean that the temperature was -54 f. It means that the combination of wind and temperature had the same chilling effect as a -54 f temperature with no wind.

Let's say it's -30 with a windchill of -45 (which it was in my area, earlier this week, but in celcius). Does that mean a thermometer would read anything lower than -30? No! It _does_ mean, that if I left a glass of water outside, it would freeze as quickly as it would on a -45 day with no wind. That hunk of ice would still only get down to -30, though.

Windchills provided by weather services are there to give an idea of what it _feels_ like, outside. It's provided as a relative temperature figure because it's easier to relate to than kilocalories per hour per square meter.

You can't draw any reasonable conclusion from that source, though. It says the WINDCHILL in Garrison dropped to -54. Windchill is not the same as temperature. Windchill is a calculated figure based on a combination of temperature and wind speed.

    Reviews and Suspensions
It doesn't seem there's a clear process for reviews and suspensions on predictions. I saw a couple of questions that seemed poorly worded, so I clicked the "flag for review" button. I expected to be able to give a reason for flagging it, but there was no such option. Instead, I added a comment to the page. After several days, nothing happened. I don't know if it's because no one looked at it, or if it's because my concerns were deemed invalid. I think there should be some form of follow-up, if you want people to help flag poor questions.

I've also seen questions that seemed fine suspended. It was before their time was up, and no explanation was given for the suspension. You're going to generate a lot of bad will if you continue suspending questions with no explanation. Significant amounts of market time shouldn't be forfeited without at least giving a reason.
