It would appear that the squeaking is quite irritating to customers. Why hasn't a Timbuk2 employee responded with a realistic solution to the problem besides returning the product for repairs or WD40? What type of repair can be performed when one ships it back that can't be done at one's own home ??

If it isn't on the bag builder it's not available, at least for the time being. But to your point if you haven't seen it for over a year, chances are that it's not coming back. As far as I know unless the store has extra inventory sitting around in the closet there, they work from the same list of materials that we do in house here.
Your bag collection is mighty and vast and you will forever be honored within the halls of Timbuk2 as a true bag fanatic!-

Will we see the return of the yellow liner? On Flickr I've recently seen a few custom messengers that have a yellow liner and I haven't seen that color in the bag builder over the last year. Are there any plans to bring that color back out?
Would the SF store have access to that color for a one off custom?

"Not sure if Timbuk2's brand is for the business setting"
I guess that would depend on the business wouldn't it? I, along with several of my coworkers, carry a Timbuk2 bag every (and I mean EVERY) day to work and have always received the highest praise on how cool my bag is.
Is the CEO of IBM carrying a Commute, probably not. His loss....

Just to clarify, all Commutes prior to Spring 2008 had D-rings and came with waist straps. However once our Commutes mated like rabbits and delivered the new Commute, the Commute Slim and the Commute Pack we traded in the D-rings and waist strap for other super functional features like the luggage pass through and magnetic closures.
Basically the new Commute line is now better suited for the ninja traveler and if you're looking to log more frequent biker miles then frequent flier miles you should check out the Laptop Messenger which comes with a cross strap to make biking easier.

I must correct my earlier post as the 2008 Commutes do *not* have waist straps or cross straps - many apologies! So, Commutes do *not* have stabilization which means they may not be the best choice for commuting on your bike. If you still want/need a professional bag with stabilization, a laptop messenger in a specialty fabric would be a good alternative to the Commute. Check out our new specialty fabrics here: http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/cms/border...
If the specialty fabrics are not your thing, then a laptop messenger in one color of ballistic (fabric with slight sheen; more outdoorsy) or cordura (totally matte fabric; more old school) would be another more professional option. I'm a big fan of all brown bags - they look better than you'd think. Hope this helps!

I was actually wondering that also, because when I look at other websites selling this bag, I don't see any waist strap D-rings. I don't know if only the new ones that are sold from the Timbuk2 website have the waist straps. But you can't tell because the pics of the back of the bag aren't available. Just want to make sure before I spend $175.
