B replied on May 08, 2009 18:43 to the question "MacGyvering my own Laptop Bag (velcro+sleeve+XLbag)" in Timbuk2:
At Timbuk2 we position the laptop sleeves to align with the base of the bag. One of the main reasons for this is weight balance and comfort. If the edge of the laptop is closer to the top edge of the bag (on the back wall) it's going to hit your spine at an awkward angle, depending on how much stuff you're carrying.
Since you have the XL Messenger you can even offset the Laptop sleeve to one side - The side that sits lower on your back when you wear the bag. This helps in the balance as the heaviest portion of the bag (usually the laptop) is a the lowest corner in the bag.
One more point - Use the softer (loop portion) velcro on the sleeve and the more abrasive (hook) section on the bag wall. That way, when you carry the sleeve separately, it's easier on the skin and clothing.
B replied on February 17, 2009 17:24 to the question "2-way or Slider for Blackberry Bold?" in Timbuk2:
Both cases should fit the Bold without any trouble. The Slider offers more leeway in the height, while the 2 Way has some extra width to play with.
Either way, both cases should offer a snug fit. For the same price - between the two, the Slider has the added functionality of the zippered pocket for your headphones or bluetooth headset (depending on its chunkiness factor)
This should help you decide better -
The dimensions for the Blackberry Bold - 4.2"x2.6"x.06"
Slider dims - 5"x3"x1"
2Way dims - 4.8"x3.3"x1"

There is no problem with re-threading the strap. It wont affect the load carrying or structural integrity of the cam.
The strap passes through the cam so that you can release the cam by just pulling the looped section of the webbing, below the cam (step 2 in illustration). This releases the cam lock but holding on to the strap helps you to maintain control with one hand, over the amount of slack.

Congratulations on your new bag!
The cam buckle on your bag was a new design to improve the durability and functionality during use. Our cam buckle allows for super fast adjustment and securely “clicks” when locked in place. The webbing run-through improves ease of adjustment, even with a beer in your hand.
To illustrate this functionality, see the attached image. With a little practice, you should be able to master this. I suggest you buy a six pack and test it out!
Hope this answers your queries.
Cheers!

Thank you all for your interest in the Weartester program. We have a great testing team up and running and we've decided to (temporarily) stop adding any more Weartesters.
To those of you who responded, you have first dibs in case something opens up. Look out for any changes or updates in this discussion.
Thank you!

B asked a question in Timbuk2 on November 14, 2008 18:05:
Timbuk2 Weartesters - Part DeuxYou game to test some of our new backpacks? We're looking for Urban Ninjas who carry all their gear in their bag and then some more.. These bags have been inspired by the functionality of our Classic Messenger bag where you don't have to take the bag off to get to your stuff... and did I mention some of them have beer bottle openers on the shoulder straps... And that's just two of the features..
Tell me a little about yourself, what you do and why your THE Urban Ninja for the new Timbuk2 backpacks..
