Solved this puzzle myself using the Flickr api. The feed url

http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/...

does the trick. Remember to insert your user_id in the string and by user_id, I don't mean your old, familiar Flickr login. I mean the obscure one found by logging in and visiting the following page:

http://www.flickr.com/services/api/ex...

This probably should be easier, but thankfully the api documentation doesn't scare me.

I want to be able to follow and respond to friends and family photos thru a feed reader without having to comb thru the combined photostream of my contacts. I don't want to add individual feeds to my reader since this would be hard to maintain and I also don't want to "unfriend" my contacts since that would be rude.

Does Flickr offer a filtered feed for just my friends and family?

Oops, sorry. I'm using Safari 2.0.4 on Mac OS 10.4 and using the website. I browse to the file, the path shows up in the field, I hit "Post It!", it doesn't send and the "This field is required." validation pops up.

Works just fine in Firefox 2.0.0.6

Suddenly can't upload an mp3. Get form validation that tells me the file field is blank. What gives?

AJAX is all fine and good, but the "add reply" button needs to prompt an error message or some kind of feedback if there's a problem. When I submit and there's a connection issue, I get nothing. The page just seems broken.

I emphatically agree. "Friends" creates a popularity contest, while I just want to hear from people who have interesting things to say. Nothing personal when I "unfriend" you for posting too many masturbation jokes. I just have so much attention to spare.

Why not let Powncers define their own terms ala dude, bloke or chicky-poo?

The ability to follow replies would be much appreciated. Although, since the simplicity of Pownce is one of it's best qualities, I'd prefer not to have threaded discussion. Maybe a "new reply" notification that uses less real-estate than other messages?
