A comment on the problem "Wuala causes internet (http) freeze" in Wuala:
I've checked that possibility - ran malwarebytes as well as checked the processes running and searched for "n.exe". Nothing came up. The task manager is not showing anything called "n.exe". In fact, the only processes which start with "N" are harmless:
NMSAccessU.exe (CDBurnerPro process)
nvsvc32.exe (NVIDIA related process)
But maybe there's something I've overlooked? – Babak, on November 06, 2009 18:53

Wuala causes internet (http) freezeWhenever I use wuala (have it running), uploading/downloading, etc. that is whether it is active or simply in the background sooner or later it causes my http internet connection to stop. I still have access to other internet protocols (ping, torrent, etc.) but not http - that is browser based internet traffic.
The only way to regain it is to restart which is a huge pain in the ass. On top of it all, when I restart, I get an error. The latest one is this, which is surreal:
http://imgur.com/OpM2P
There are other ones which also pop-up similar to that. For example, there is one which says it is QTStimer.exe and another one which said it was nsapshell (which I shared with wuala tech support way back here: http://getsatisfaction.com/wuala/topi... )
I really like wuala, but this basically renders it useless for me. I have tried this over and over again so please do not say that it isn't wuala that is causing this. I run many different internet programs in different combinations, and this error NEVER happens. It is ONLY when I'm running wuala.
My OS is windows XP latest SP
thanks guys

Babak replied on April 26, 2009 10:13 to the question "nsappshell:eventwindow bug" in Wuala:
It looks like this is a firefox weakness which when combined with certain other software makes the computer or firefox freak the frak out.
Some are reporting this in concurrance with AVG and others (like myself) with Outpost. The only thing which is constant is that both of those "monitor" info to and fro from the browser - sorry that's about as technical as this noob gets.
https://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view...
So it seems that wuala can also be one of these pieces of software because it also sends and receives traffic. But strangely enough, I could swear that at times utorrent isn't restricted and at other times it is. Is there something inherently different between utorrent and firefox or secondlife? maybe UDP??!?
In any case, I can definitely say that it isn't an add on issue as many people suggest. I've disabled them and it still occurs. It is something in the Gecko engine which collides with AVG or Outpost or wuala or etc.
I say this with confidence because I've done the SAME action in opera with no problem (uploading a file) but with firefox, everything else being equal, it pukes nsappeventshell:window.
My hearty apologies for sullying the good name of wuala :-/ it was misplaced frustration. Try to imagine having to restart your station 45 times in a day.
Babak replied on February 22, 2009 23:39 to the question "nsappshell:eventwindow bug" in Wuala:
I don't think this is simply a Firefox bug because it effects internet traffic with other browsers as well - when it happens, I can't even use opera or IE etc. As well, when wuala is disabled, it doesn't happen. It only comes up when wuala is running. And no, it isn't a router issue either.
And to report back from the experiment that bagelcat suggested, I've been running wuala with p2p disabled and it is the same issue. The only other nugget I can suggest is when I sign in to wuala it happens more often but that's just a hunch, not really proven to me yet, it just seems that way.

Kaspar, I'm using winxp latest updates I'm running firewall (outpost pro) and antivirus (avira)
I can't put into words how frustrating this bug is! If anything makes me dump wuala, this is it!
Just now I was using filezilla to ftp some files and in the middle of the trf it stopped dead. Then nothing worked. I have to restart and quickly disable/exit from wuala.
If wuala is not running, everything is fine. If wuala is running, this bug rears its head and stops internet traffic.
Please take this seriously. I use waula and love what you guys have created but this is simply too much.
Since everything plays nice on the system and things go haywire once wuala comes online and starts uploading/downloading, this is wuala's problem.
Babak asked a question in Wuala on January 19, 2009 19:49:
nsappshell:eventwindow bugI've had this problem with wuala for a while now and haven't been able to pin it down more than this description.
After a while of running wuala, my internet connection is somehow broken. I can't access the internet via browser, torrent, even update of anti-virus, etc.
The only thing that returns it to normal is a restart. When I go to restart or shut down, I get one of those windows error windows which says there was a problem with nsAppShell:Eventwindow. Then it asks me to force it to shut down or to wait while a timer crawls a bar from the left to the right, at which time it will force it to shut down.
I've searched for this error nsAppShell:eventwindow but haven't found much. I'm running windows xp latest. And I'm pretty sure that it is wuala since if I'm not running it, this doesn't happen.
has anyone else noticed this? any help appreciated.

Isaac, thanks for the reply. However, you didn't answer my question. Here it is again
If I shut off Quoter, then I'll have these silly [quote] tags all over the place which it uses to create portions of previous comments in quotation markes.
Any idea who I can make the switch without any headaches?
that is, without having to go back and one by one erase all these vestigial square bracket quote tags once used by quoter.
hope that's clear

Quoter plugin and Intense Debate Conflicts?I'm using Quoter plugin but want to start using Intense Debate. If I shut off Quoter, then I'll have these silly [quote] tags all over the place which it uses to create portions of previous comments in quotation markes.
Any idea who I can make the switch without any headaches? can I leave quoter on to work with intense debate? I don't think that's a good idea myself. here is the website for quoter:
http://www.damagedgoods.it/wp-plugins...
I'm excited to begin using intense debate but am apprehensive so I'd appreciate some expert advice on this. Thank you!
