Chowder, for an image, the url would be the location of the image file. For a youtube video, it would be the location of the swf file. For each youtube vid you can look up the embed code.

for a video you also have to use these attributes:

type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="330" height="280"

as well, you can't use "img" cause it isn't an image, you use, [[embed]] tags

just add the style="float:right; margin-left: 20px;" to make it stick to one side or the other that's all

if you still don't get it, go to http://rendur.com/ and play around with the code until you do, that's how you learn!

Thanks Peter, I'm not sure why hosting matters - are you referring to the version of php it will be running? or something else?
I'm using FF latest on XP Pro - I've also tested viewing the widget on opera latest
I followed the link but I think I erased the widget by mistake -- oops!
but that is soooo neat! how did you embed a dropio widget inside a dropio page? I tried to do it myself but haven't yet found the way.

Peter, thanks very much for the detailed response. Much appreciated. It does look like dropio will be a good fit. Of course, I'll have some follow up questions but in the meantime...

Could you please update me on the widget status? can I see a screenshot of what one is supposed to look like? If I can't see or use an embedded widget, then dropio is out of the contention.

btw, that was the second widget I tried to embed the first also didn't work!

could you perhaps send me a link to someone's widget that is working?

Monique, thanks for the feedback but I found a more elegant solution on my own. Here it is applied to an image, but you can equally apply it to anything:

[[img style="float:right; margin-left: 20px;" src="URL" alt="blee blee" title="Blablah"]]

where 20 stands for the margin in pixels
URL =URL
and the gobbledeegook is the alt and title tags

if you want to change it up, switch right/left, etc.

whooop!

ps for some reason the code tags are not working so substitute [[]] for <>

Monique, as the image shows, I was deleting it by right clicking on the actual title. It presented a small menu choice. I wasn't trying to delete the whole page.

can I download the site and remove the spacing from the code and then upload via ftp to my own servers (at my own domain)? is that kosher?

how do I erase not only the title (words) but also the space between the top of the page and the beg. of the header image?

I think it is out of y combinator, the same guys who dev scribd - probably why it can handle embedded files like pdf, word, excel, etc.

more control, less cost, customizable, skinnable, can host it on my own domain, or sub-domain, etc.
nothing wrong with pbwiki, I just realized I've sort of, well, outgrown it. I want to mess about with my own wiki, maybe learn a bit of coding, etc.

I've heard great things about MindTouch but am confused, is it free or incredibly expensive? their site is a bit confusing.
