OK. Bruno, you are correct. the horrible performance problem is not Flock per se. It is most definitely a problem with one or more add-ons. Flock running normally with add-ons enabled was taking 40-50% of CPU. Now, I'm running in "safe mode" with no add-ons installed and its idling along at <5% CPU. It will peak to 15% or so on page loads but this is a considerable difference.
Bruno, any suggestions on weeding out the offending add-on(s)?
Thanks.

The problem, as I see it, is not so much a memory problem but a CPU utilization problem. When Flock loads, it takes 48%-50% of CPU and pegs there. Firefox is only 14%-16% with spikes to 50%. IMO, this causes Flock to "not respond". Now, I'm not sure if its caused by an add-on so I'm going to try runnig it in safe mode as suggested above.
I monitored the performance for a couple of days and have since stopped using flock and gone back to Firefox. I've been monitoring Firefox now for a couple of days and the difference in performance is very noticeable. Flock is unbearably slow compared to Firefox.-
