A friend of mine was complaining about this: He used to be able to swap the SIM between his Treo and his small cram-in-pocket "weekend phone." No go with the iPhone.

This happens with my MacBook sometimes too. Usually just messing with it (open, close, smack the spacebar a million times) gets its attention. Mine also sometimes gets in this weird "backwards state" where closing it wakes it and opening it puts it to sleep. Boy, does that make me mad. In those cases, I have to close it, wait for it to fall asleep on its own and then open it to wake it.

I have never used a mobile device for email--always just my laptop. I use a plain old POP server. How does it all work? What is on the phone, and what is on the laptop, and how does it stay in sync? If I reply to something on the iPhone, is that reflected on the laptop and vice versa? I've looked around for an explanation, but have not found anything...

We are working on a variety of widget ideas right now, so this is a great time for your suggestion. I'd love to hear if anyone has ideas or pointers to sites that do a great job with this kind of thing...

I have had two people tell me they have invited me, but I have not received any invites (not even in the spam bucket). Maybe it's because the service is down...

So, the issues are:

- iPhone users do not receive picture messages in a useful form.
- iPhone users would need to know how to convert a recipient's phone number to an email address, which would require knowing the recipient's carrier and that carrier's schema.

Seems like something that should be easily surmountable. Can we design/build something to do this?
