I also should add that I recently bought a windows mobile phone for other uses and it synced with all of my outlook calendar including past events with no problem. All contacts, calendar info etc. were transferred from Outlook and into the new phone in under 60 minutes and I was up and running. I love my iphone but it is definitely high maintenance.

Just this week after months I actually got it working syncing both ways. I had been working on cleaning up oddities in old records on Outlook for a while & nothing seemed to work. I also kept updating the itunes side to no avail. Tuesday I tried syncing and telling it to replace the calendar on the iphone with the info on Outlook but to ignore any data more than 1 day old so I don't have any history but I did get everything going forward and now it is exchanging changes to the calendar both from Outlook & the iphone. One of the things I had done was to delete lots of extraneous calendars in Outlook but I think one still existed. I noticed today that when I added a new appt on the phone it was in Orange and all of the appointments that came from Outlook were in Red. I think I still have a little cleanup to do on Outlook because the iphone thinks there 2 calendars it is syncing with -- one keyed in red and the other in orange. – Barrie, on November 13, 2009 21:47

I tried this but it did not work. Not sure what you mean by an orange calendar; my icon is white with a red stripe at the top on the iphone. Thanks for the suggestion. Barrie – Barrie, on July 27, 2009 16:13

I have probably spent about 80 hours on this very same problem with all of the attempts to reset everything. It worked for about 2 months when I bought the phone in February then the calendar stopped syncing ... although everything else continues to sync just fine. So I am carrying around paper for a calendar again after years of no problems with Sony-Ericson, Palm Treo & Windows Mobile working just fine. The recent Apple software upgrade did not resolve the problem either.
