Bart replied on December 04, 2009 11:06 to the problem "BlackBerry Sync issue" in Soocial:
that is different then. The interesting thing is that we have two devices here in the office. An 8100 and a 8900
It works fine on the 8900 but not on the 8100. At least not with the Blackberry sim.
What we need to do, is to see if we can make the client access the internet in a smarter way. We are looking in to that with our developers.

Johan,
do you have the same situation where the Blackberry was provided by another network? Ours used to be on the t-mobile network. I am afraid somewhere there is a redirect active that lets our Blackberry not access the web though the Vodafone APN settings. – Bart, on December 04, 2009 10:25
Bart replied on December 04, 2009 08:26 to the question "sooclook.dll not found" in Soocial:
Hey Shaun,
sorry about the hassle. The first thing I would try is to reinstall the client. Then start Outlook and the client once. After that make sure they are both shut down and uninstall the client again.
An other option is to use the "detect and repair" option in Outlook.
Please let us know if it worked for you.

Hey MC,
You can just manually enter the settings. The first sync will bring you phone in to the connections list.
1. Server: sync.soocial.com
2. Username: your Soocial username
3. Password: your Soocial password
4. Port: 80
5. Set to include contacts synchronization
6. Set The Remote Database ./contacts/

Bart replied on December 03, 2009 08:22 to the problem "Soocial dedupe doesn't work." in Soocial:
Thanks guys,
really appreciate the feedback. I do understand the confusion. I will do a bit more explaining. At bit of Soocial history is needed to understand where we are at.
As we set of to make a contacts syncing product we were finding all kinds of hurdles. As most of the time when you go do something new, it was harder to do than we thought it would be.
One of the things we were finding that the initial sync was a really hard nut to crack. If the sync would for whatever reason not finish, the user would end up with a lot of dupes. Real duplicates. So we made a deduper that would take care of those, and at first run it for individual user on request.
As we opened up Soocial about a year ago to a public Beta instead of a private, we decided to make that deduper available to the user in the webapp. That is pretty much still where it is at.
As I said before, what the deduper does NOT do is merge contacts that have nothing more in common than just the first and last name. Even of the phone numbers are similar but have a different notation ex: 001(123)456 789 and +123456789 They would sill not be seen as a dupe.
Why did we not build a better deduper yet? Well it did just not have the highest priority. We have been focusing on the actual syncing over the last year. We do understand you are annoyed about the thing not working properly Paulo, ut you have to understand, we are still in Beta! As our core start being at where we want it too we will have time to spend more time on shaving off the rough edges and building more cool features like a smarter deduper.
To summarize, Soocial is not a finished product but we are close. We need you guys test riding it and using the feature that do work for and in return give us feedback on things that do would not live up to your expectation.
Just so you know, I did make a ticket for my colleagues because of this feedback to see if we can make the deduper feedback better.

Hey Paulo,
We are not in to misleading anybody. If it doesn't work we need to fix it. And we need your feedback to be able to find out. So, thank you for for letting us know.
A few questions for you:
- What do you expect the deduper to do? You seem to have less than a hundred contacts and no real duplicates. Two contacts that do have the same name but don't have any telephone numbers or e-mails in common are being merged by this.
- What do you see on the deduper page? http://www.soocial.com/deduper
is this button present?
