Hi
Just a comment on this:
On my client's site I was creating a Subscriber, using the API, before redirecting the user to the Spreedly payment page. As I was setting the billing first/last name and the email in my Subscriber#create POST, it was showing correctly on the page.
However, the other day, this stopped working - I'm assuming that it is related to this change.
I've altered my code to include parameters in the GET, but I was wondering if you have anywhere listing the changes you have made or are planning to make, that may affect us? So I can prepare in advance, rather than being caught out like this.
Cheers
Rahoul.

How does Spreedly deal with auto-recurrence with no credit card details on file?I just need a quick confirmation:
We are going to migrate my client's site to the new Spreedly-enabled version in the next couple of weeks, and part of the migration routine sets up all existing subscribers with Spreedly-managed plans.
It basically looks at each member, creates a Spreedly subscriber then adds N days of complimentary time at the appropriate feature level - the idea being that they don't even notice that we have moved to the new system.
But - when the time comes for them to renew their membership (all plans are auto-recurring), Spreedly won't have their card details.
So does Spreedly email the member and ask them to enter their details at renewal time?
Presumably it does the same thing if Spreedly does have card details but the payment fails for whatever reason?

Rahoul Baruah reported a problem in Spreedly on September 07, 2009 10:37:
Spreedly asks for credit card details even if the account has enough credit on file to pay for the next subscriptionMy client's site has an option to change your subscription plan mid-term. Spreedly makes this nice and easy - we just publish the relevant link, the member clicks it, enters their card details to pay the difference and all is good.
However, the client also wants to give a free upgrade to certain members at certain times. We were going to simply add some credit to the member's Spreedly account, then ask them to click the relevant link - they will have zero to pay so they click continue and they are upgraded.
This works fine apart from one thing - even through Spreedly will say "the plan costs £X and you have £X on credit, so you will be charged £0" - it still asks for the member's credit card details. I understand that they won't actually be charged but it's still a bit disconcerting to a member, who thinks they are getting something for free, to be asked to put in their details again.
Is this a bug in Spreedly or is it intended? If the former, could someone take a look please?

Is this a sensible way to integrate Spreedly into my app?Hi,
Following a catalogue of disasters I need to rework a project to get subscriptions working very quickly. Spreedly looks fantastic for that.
But I'm not 100% sure on the "flow" that things will take. Is this outline correct?
* User registers on my site, I create a User record (with an ID)
* The User clicks the spreedly.com/mysite/ URL (with the embedded price plan and user id within the URL and my own return URL passed through too)
* The User enters their card details
* Spreedly returns the user to my return URL - this can trigger my code to pull the user details from Spreedly and store it against the User object
* My User object can now find out whether a User is allowed to log in as it has the end date, and plan details
* When the User cancels (or a subsequent payment fails) Spreedly notifies my application's URL - my app then pulls the subscriber details again and updates the User object again (maybe cancelling their login privileges or whatever)
Is this about correct?
Cheers
Rahoul.-

Ahh - just seen this: http://getsatisfaction.com/spreedly/t... - so no Recurring Payments needed!
Rahoul Baruah asked a question in Spreedly on August 11, 2009 11:26:
Paypal Pro Recurring Payments vs SpreedlyI'm working on a recurring payments system for a client and was planning on using Paypal Pro Reference Transactions - however it appears that PP won't allow my client to use them (although I've used them before with similar sized clients).
So looking at the alternatives there are Paypal Recurring Payments, which cost an extra amount per month, or Spreedly, which costs a fixed amount plus a percentage.
If I go with Spreedly (which looks *much* simpler to implement) do I also need to pay PP for the recurring payments service? Or is the point of your service that you can handle all that stuff without us having to give a load extra to PP?
Thanks

iPhone app seems to be losing Lifecast dataI'm getting weirdness on the iPhone app - it seems to have started losing my data (using a Tumblr account).
I can create a photo and sometimes when i enter the title it works ok, but sometimes the "post to blog" button doesn't appear and the title vanishes when i return to the "list" view. I have to reenter the title to post it.
But EVERY time now, after I quit Lifecast and restart it it has lost the title and often the photo as well (it is in the Photo roll but not in Lifecast).
