Looks like deleting signons2.txt and signons3.txt from my profile fixed the problem (as mentioned in the thread you referenced). If you add that as a proper response, I can mark that it solves my problem.
Thanks for working through this with us, I really appreciate y'all taking the time to track all of this down.

A comment on the problem "I am repeatedly asked for my PIN during the first password sync (on the second computer)" in Xmarks:
Downloaded the 2.5.5 package. I'm getting the same results as before, unfortunately. The one difference is that it now reports that an unknown error occurs when I cancel the sync (error number 3).
I should also note, since these issues have sprung up, I've lost all passwords that had been saved, and can't re-save them. For example, each time I log into Gmail, it doesn't remember my password, even though each time I tell it to. – Brian Dukes, on October 29, 2008 02:13

I was able to successfully synch if I unselect Passwords.

I then reselected Passwords, and was prompted for my PIN.

However, when I resynched, it still asked me for my PIN, as before.

After I cancelled (cancelled the PIN prompt twice, cancelled the synch dialog twice), the settings page still said it was synchronoizing, and wouldn't let me try again without restarting the browser.

I saw on another issue that someone had suggested making sure that Saved Passwords was unchecked in the Clear Private Data settings if it wasn't saving your password. I checked that, and it was already unchecked.
Brian Dukes reported a problem in Xmarks on October 19, 2008 22:05:
I am repeatedly asked for my PIN during the first password sync (on the second computer)I setup password sync on my work computer, which went fine. I just upgraded Foxmarks to 2.5.3 on my home computer and tried to start the password sync. I entered my PIN to get started. It then successfully synced my bookmarks, and popped up a dialog to enter my PIN. I entered the PIN, and the same dialog appeared again. I tried entering the PIN a few dozen times, with the same results. I eventually clicked Cancel, which left the progress dialog. I had to click Cancel on that dialog twice before it disappeared. After enabling JavaScript logging, I saw the one following error when I clicked Cancel above:
Error: label is null

That is, in fact, what I'm doing in the meantime. Thanks for your consideration of this idea. – Brian Dukes, on September 24, 2008 14:53

Brian Dukes shared an idea in Vidoop on September 09, 2008 21:50:
Don't fill in forms or passwordsI'd love to use the myVidoop plugin in a write-only mode, where Firefox/Internet Explorer/etc. were still responsible for managing my passwords, they were just also kept online in myVidoop if I needed them from a browser in which they weren't stored. I could then retrieve the password from the cloud if I needed it, but otherwise could keep using the unobtrusive password manager of my choice within my browser (and Google Toolbar for auto-fill). I would also still use myVidoop for OpenID wherever possible. It'd be especially nice if the plugin would do a sync with the browsers password store every-so-often, to keep multiple browsers seamlessly up-to-date.-
