I hear you. Was served with notice in March from Assessors office that prop. taxes were not paid. Pulled Citi statements and called. Citi paid on wrong parcel and $ was returned to them. Called Citi, faxed all required info immediately and was assured it would be handled. On May 12, neighbor calls to say that Assessors office was trying to reach us (who knows why they called neighbor). Called to find out Citi had not followed through and house was to be auctioned in 1 week. My name as delinquent tax payer had been published in the paper for 3 weeks (don't get the paper - names not published to on-line version that I do read). Called Citi back - got through to India. They told me, "Yes", they had received my fax, but hadn't gotten to it yet. I explained the need to resolve it immediately and they said there was "no way" they could get the funds released before the auction. About seven phone calls later, I spoke with someone in America who told me this - If I didn't want my home auctioned, I would need to pay the taxes myself and submit the paid receipt to them for reimbursement. Though I was furious, I did so the same day. About a week later, Citi calls to tell me that they are withholding a portion of the money and applying it to my escrow account for this year! I received only a portion back. Mind you that I have NEVER missed, nor have I been late on a single mortgage payment. They have shown no concern for the embarrassment this caused me in our small community and behaved as though I had done something wrong. To top it off, they bought the mortgage on our primary home about 2 years ago AND NOW they are buying our equity line with the Wachovia deal. Funny, mortgage companies can buy and sell us like food at a concessions stand. But if we want see better service, we have to "refinance". I am going to constantly press their buttons until someone acknowledges that their mistake negatively impacted our lives.
