A comment on the discussion "Welcome!" in Memorex:

I'm not happy. Memorex tells me to go buy a refurbished one and send them the receipt and they will send me a check. But I had to wait so long I went a head and bought one. So in order to get satisfaction, my only recourse is to buy another one, which I don't need....so I'm not doing anything. Pro-rating the cost of the new one to the age of the fried one was not an option. Live and learn. – Beanie, on June 04, 2008 11:29

    Memorex 4GB Traveldrive Meltdown
I purchased a new 4 GB Travel drive from memorex for $79and installed it in my computer. 20 min later I smell this weird vinyl smell....a burning vinyl smell and trace it back to under my desk where I'm feeling everthing for heat-I notice that the new Memorex traveldrive is RED HOT so pull it out of the USB slot and notice that it's MELTED DOWN and still smoking. Then I feel the Ipod that was plugged into the next USB slot and that too was red hot, although not smoking like the Memorex. I let everything cool, then try to turn on the IPOD and no luck. I do a reset, everything and it's fried.

I took the travel drive to Office depot where I purchased it and the manager was very concerned, but said he had to have it in order to give me a full refund (I wanted to send it to Memorex). So in the store I took pictures of the melted down travel drive that could have set my house on fire had I not been home. I also took a photo of the sales receipt. When I got home I called Memorex and the gentleman said for me to email him the photos, and gave him the number of the manager of the Office Depot who he did speak with. Memorex said their insurance dept will contact me. I HEARD NOTHING BACK FROM MEMOREX. Not even an apology for wrecking my newer Ipod Mini 6GB. I had done a GOOGLE search on that model Travel drive and there were around 6 listings for this Memorex product melting down. MELTING DOWN. That is a fire threat! Is it me or is this really a safety concern?

Dell's Quality Control is awful-if exsists at all!
My Dell Inspiron Laptop motherboard dies after 6 months. So it went back to the factory, only to get it back and it runs for one minute then shuts down. Sounds like a heat sync to me, However, their tech depart has to give permission to return it again....kept me on the phone for 5 hours of trying and I had to DEMAND he stop and give me the box to return it to Dell. 5 HOURS!!! Not only that, but he did a DESTRUCTIVE REFORMAT in a round about way like he didn't want me to know, and I lost all my data. My friends told me I should have bought an HP and now I believe them! SO what was supposed to be a quick 7 day repair now turns into 3 weeks!
