You can now also turn on alerts yourself, by going to your alert settings. Unfortunately the wakoopa.com/updates link wasn't directly accessible. We changed that just a minute ago. Sorry for that.

We are happy to announce that we have implemented software updates. However, we are still testing it and would really like your feedback first before we launch a beta for everybody. You are right that the search does not work in this case, as we put some restrictions on the categories we believe aren’t interesting to show up in the mix of results for most software. However we are still looking at it and it is still subject to change.

At the moment we are restyling the search, and you're absolutely right that one should be able to filter the app search results by categories/subcategories. In the new version you will have filters on the right, which will also indicate the number of search results for the particular filter (e.g. Development / Management). We will check why you had the occurrences of mac software amongst windows/web software.
