Not a critical bug... but I'm not the only person with a black userpic.
mdy replied on May 08, 2008 15:41 to the problem "How to the various device update settings affect each other?" in Twitter:
Hope you feel up to a long-winded explanation. 8-) Here's how it works:
On the sidebar, there are three settings to choose from.
If you've chosen:
1. web-only, then you only get updates on the web
2. phone, then you get updates on the phone, and you can view updates on the web whenever you want.
3. im, then it gets a bit more subtle.
. a. If you've selected im and you have not added a phone to http://twitter.com/devices, then you will receive tweets via im if you're logged into im. You won't receive anything when you're logged out.
( As an aside, when you log in again later, you won't receive any of the updates that were sent while you were offline. You can think of those tweets as water in a stream that has already flowed past you. )
. b. On the other hand, if you've selected im and you have a verified phone number in http://twitter.com/devices, then Twitter will send all the tweets to your im if you're logged in to im, and will automatically (without any further action from you) send all the tweets to your phone as soon as you log off from im. If you login again later, Twitter will see that you're now online and will automatically redirect all the tweets to your im.
Given the behavior that you describe above, I can only conclude that Twitter does not "see" you as being online in IM whenever you login. Since Twitter thinks you're offline, it continues to send the updates to your phone.
I therefore suggest that you:
1. temporarily remove your phone from your account (to simplify troubleshooting)
2. make sure that your IM is working correctly first (which unfortunately may require you to remove it and add it back), then
3. add your phone back only after Twitter IM consistently "sees" you when you login and logout.
Hope that helps!

How to the various device update settings affect each other?I had updates sent to my phone, then in my IM I issued the "on" command. Updates still sent to my phone, web interface Device updates shows IM as selected option.
1. I went to web site and updated Device Updates to be web-only. This correctly stopped updates from phone and IM.
2. Via web, I set Device Updates to IM... now device updates are going to my phone again.
3. Via web, I set Device Updates to web-only... now web-only.
4. Via web, I set Device Updates to IM... now device updates are going to my phone again.
I found this topic which helps me disable updates to my phone via settings/devices page: http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/to...
But I'm now confused between the relationship of how on/off commands are interpreted via direct on/off msg, via radio-buttons on web, and on the settings/devices page.
How do these settings affect each other?

At this time, I can help you with managing products and services. But, editing them as an admin is a detail we're still working on. The company information can all be edited, but the products are a bit trickier. My hope is to have that available soon, but until then, I can help curate these details. You can tell me here or e-mail me at eric [at] getsatisfaction [dot] com.

I have a similar question... but rather I just want to manage the products & services for my company, Strangecode. Where do I do this?
beausmith replied on March 20, 2008 19:35 to the question "Passwords" in Strangecode Internet Consultancy:
Hi Beau!
The answer depends upon which password you what to change and if you know the current password. Read on...
Email Password
You can your email password or the password can be changed by logging in with the postmaster account.
Website Password
You can change the website password used to access the files making up your website
Lost Your Password?
If you do not know your password, then we'll help you reset it. We do not keep passwords on file, but have the ability to reset them. Contact us (noting the account which you'd like to change a password for) and we'll can reset it for you. If you're attempting to change an email password, inquire with the person who is the main administrator for your website and email first (unless this is Strangecode!)
If you are using any custom software to manage the files on your website, you should contact the developer whom set this up. If they are not available, we may be able to assist with this.

Beau, really appreciate you taking the time to send feedback. The more the better so good or bad please let us know your thoughts.
Yeah, a more granular display of stats and activities would be neat for those who want to view it at that level. Would be a great view toggle on the Stuff page. We can also do better in making some of the granular data more discoverable. For example, as an owner of a page you can click on the number "60 positive responses" on your page and it will show you a breakdown of your guest list responses.

Feedback...Just created an event (for my birthday!) and it was so easy!! Very inspirational to me as a designer/developer of Movable Type and Vox for Six Apart. I've been using our products for various clients and noticing where flow could really be improved.
So I'm still working my way around the features of the service, but there are a few things that could be easier... if I may. =)
On my Stuff page, I want:
- recent activity broken out into individual items for each action that took place.
- stats for individual events.
- links directly to the list of event contacts.
Also... I had a bit of a hard time locating the "account" link... I kept looking in the top right corner of the screen... and in the left nav on the edit-event page.
Anyhow... just some feedback.
