My brother was looking over my shoulder, and said, "Why do mozilla apps have the coolest icons?", as he pointed to Firefox, Thunderbird, and Songbird. I was using the icon eightree has created. First I had to clear up that songbird wasn't a mozilla app, and then I had to admit sorrowfully that this was a third party icon.

This shows how well the black/white/flat bird stands up along with even Firefox, and in the eyes of someone who hasn't been acquainted with songbird and its mascot.

not sure i this is the same problem, but when I have a song playing, i expect the next song in the album to start playing, even if i change the filters. This works in 1.0 RC2 but, when you highlight a different song it reads it as the now playing and plays the song following the song you highlight.

Matt's reply to "EQ and applet" was just promoted to the most useful! Enjabain and 14 other people think it's one of the best replies.

Here's the thing; In my view; GOOD SOUND MUST COME FIRST, or none of the other cool features will matter. In addition to this thread there are threads & bug reports about volume limiting/Normalization & some complaints about the sound. -- see:

Now we know the Dev's have heard these requests, & they're on the list, & that we're waiting on GStreamer, but improving the sound & sound tools still doesn't appear to be highest on the list according to the Roadmap.

I would've thought that making the player work well & sound good -as a music player- would come first (and even be easier?) rather than implementing some of the fancier web-related features.
For one thing; I think most of us already have ways to find content, both files and streams. I buy most of my music from Amazon, & listen to SomaFM a lot. & we already have a great web-browser; Firefox.

- so once it sounds really good, we could adopt the player as our main music-player early, & show it off to more people, & wait as cool web-search features, & cover art, & even video playback, etc. are developed.

On Macs the red X button should not fully quit the program but allow it to continue running from the dock.

On the OSX version when you click the red exit button songbird should not quit fully. It should close the window but remain running/playing from the doc. Similar to how firefox, thunderbird, and itunes run. I can not tell you the number of times i have meant to close the window, and closed out of the entire program losing my playlist/nowplaying. I know i can use the minimize button but i would rather close the window and have less clutter.
