benaud asked a question in TweetBackup on May 21, 2009 22:49:
Why is the backup of my account incomplete? The backup of my account (@benaud) only goes back as far as 2008-05-20 and includes only the most recent 1141 tweets. There are another 461 tweets going back to 2007-06-07 that are missing from the archive. Shouldn't the backup include up to 3200 tweets regardless of age?
(Thanks for a great service by the way, I've been waiting for something like this to come along)

Did you take a look at the status blog? User deletion has most recently been offline since the 12th Nov: (http://status.twitter.com/post/593630...) There have been updates about user deletion since then on the 14th Nov: (http://status.twitter.com/post/597358...) and again on the 18th Nov: (http://status.twitter.com/post/603855...) The status box in the right hand column on http://status.twitter.com reports the current status of user deletions. Until this is issue fixed by the Twitter team, you will not be able to delete you account:

On the settings page, (http://twitter.com/account/settings) bottom left hand corner, link: Delete my account
It'll be back once things settle down ... you can check here for the availability status of account deletion: http://status.twitter.com/

Yeah, I noticed that too ... I do have visible checkins at the second location you mentioned (at least I see them when I'm logged in)
The only thing that I can think of is there is another location in the area that I have set the privacy at - I don't remember doing this though - nor can I find another location to check in to ...
Thanks again for your assistance.

Hi,
I've tried some further troubleshooting, but nothing I do seems to be able to reset the privacy settings at/around this location.
Is there anyway my privacy settings can be reset on the backend?? (I don't even mind if my account and everything in it is reset or deleted and recreated.
I'd love to be able to have checkin's at this location pubic again.
Thanks

Hi Lesley, thanks for taking a look at this :-)
That's what I initially thought as well ... but I have double checked the privacy settings at the two locations I have visited in the area and the setting is "According to my current privacy mode" on both.
I have also attempted to 'reset' the privacy mode in both locations by switching to "Always Public" and then back to "According to my current privacy mode" as well as deleting and re-adding the place entirely from my "Places" stream and "Visited Places" list.
If might help, my username on BK is @benaud and here is an example place: http://brightkite.com/places/6fae749c... (the other is my home address, which I'd rather not disclose here ;-)
Thanks and regards,
@benaud
benaud reported a problem in Brightkite on September 10, 2008 11:39:
Checkins are private despite placemark privacy settingsI have previously marked a location as private (with a 300 meter radius), then I changed it back to "According to my current privacy mode" and even "Always Public" - but all checkins at this location continue to be marked as private regardless of my privacy mode. I tried deleting the place mark/locations etc .. but still my checkins are private.
Am I missing something? Any ideas?
Thanks

Gee, that sounds promising. I hope someone from Twitter reads your post and has a look at this .. as I'm less than optimistic that we now rely on negotiations with AU telcos ... – benaud, on August 14, 2008 06:01

All I can say is what a shame; I'm sorry that you had to make this move ... I really like Twitter - but each month that goes by it seems less and less useful to me .. it's just not the same service that it was a year ago .. now I know it's free and I have no right to complain .. but all the same .. I want to keep using Twitter ...
I'm pessimistic that the shitty telcos in AU will come to the party ... so I think some sort of paid model is all I really have to look forward to :-(

I have been able to find a list of all the people I was following by visiting twitter.com/home whilst logged in (or twitter.com/benaud whilst logged out) The list of people I was following is all there (I only follow 53 people) as icons/links and I was able to grab the usernames should I need to manually re-follow them. I am not too concerned about followers ... – benaud, on July 24, 2008 08:55
