Here is a link to the newer slide show, with the richochet slide show from Bommer. Note that I am slicing the link in half to avoid people coming to it by accident:

Note the question marks where the control panels should be -- the same effect I had with the SLIDE slide show. Are the controls in an incompatible code?

One more comment -- the product you mentioned is on this thread, lower. – Bengo, on October 25, 2008 20:02

No, somehow I absent-mindedly launched two threads on this. You mentioned the ricocheting product; that's what I mean. Also, please bear in mind I have no Microsoft products. I can download free stuff for Mac if needed. I've never run my Mac in PC mode so that would add effort. – Bengo, on October 25, 2008 20:01
Bengo replied on October 25, 2008 19:53 to the question "Using forwarding to reduce subdomain/domain competition" in Yola:
This is all clear and helpful, but I want to confirm one thing. I assume the HTML tag should go on the landing page of the domain that is being forwarded. Is there any special location?
Furthermore, I assume that forwarded traffic will show up on only the target site's Google Analytics data -- that as traffic from the first domain decline, it would show up as increases on the other. You understand, I want to be very careful not to accidentally duplicate any traffic results.

Using forwarding to reduce subdomain/domain competitionHi. Several of my sites here have two domains: the standard one ending with synthasite.com, and a custom one I've chosen. Interaction between them is smooth, but I get two set of Google Analytics data for each site. Can I install a forwarding mechanism to the synthasite site so that all traffic goes to the main site, and there is no need for a second Google report? If so, I'll need to be pointed in the right direction.

Boomer, I went with it and have it all loaded up, but the control panel is just boxes with ? marks. What needs fixing? – Bengo, on October 25, 2008 00:33

Tip: Using Analytics to Tell Readers from VisitorsIf you run a content web site, as opposed to a merchandise site, you may find something to like in this blog post I did about telling readers apart from "just visiting."

The post assumes that you are equipped with Google Analytics.

The slides are images derived from artwork and can be in any format that makes sense. I built a working prototype using TIFFs but I wouldn't use that for the final. The client wants an iPhone around the images so that they appear to be playing on the phone screen. They are not my customer and will be reasonable; this is more like a business collaboration.
I successfully reduced the dead space around the slide show with the two column tool and was just now going to place some iPhone pieces around it, if I can figure out how they fit together :)

Minor problem with SLIDE widgetI've set up a slide show using the SLIDE widget on a Mac 10.4 Safari. Following the show, an opinion poll window appears on screen, and it will not close. How can I make it go away?

Slide showsOf all the slide show options, are there any that allow me to have the slide show native to my site so I can design around it? If not, is there one that allows me to build around the slide show display?
Bengo replied on October 17, 2008 19:45 to the idea "How I Got High Google Page Ranks with Synthasite" in Yola:
Thank you.
Google's own help pages for GA will solve a lot of problems, but if you like how I explain things, you will rank them about a 6 or 7. Then tend to assume you know things from reading other GA help pages, sending some people in circles.
Right now I am trying to improve my own understanding of certain things. GA means different things to people with a fun site, a business site, or a site meant to be read.
I will take your idea seriously and may be able to add some things, and I would welcome hearing specific areas where people feel confused or unable to find the data they want.

Repeat Visitor Counting: What do you recommend?Does Synthasite have a preferred analytics and method for counting returning visitors, for example, those returning twice a week or more? I have been testing Google, Quantus, StatsCounter (rubbish), Compete, ComicRank and others and I am getting widely different results: some read 500 where others read 4500. What's your very best advice for calculating this type of figure, and using who's data?

Check out this great article I found yesterday. It's about some of the smallest countrys recognized by Internet authority ICANN and given country codes. Some only have under 100 citizens. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/01/...

Can I set up a Synthasite-site to require log-in and password? And can it go further, like collecting other data and allowing webmaster screening prior to approval?
Bengo replied on October 07, 2008 20:34 to the idea "How I Got High Google Page Ranks with Synthasite" in Yola:
I need to add that since arranging my own domain names and linking them to Synthasite, my PageRank has bounced around and is now lower. I don't want anyone to feel misled. Domain name adjustments can be like starting over.
If you like Synthasite, consider linking your preferred domain to your site sooner rather than later, like I did.
Good news continues, however. My leading site, LilNyet.com, received over 10,000 visits last month. That site was launched April 2008.
Bengo replied on October 01, 2008 05:44 to the question "Feeds" in Yola:
1. Finally installing this and having a few hitches. Is filename.rss.xml the correct ending?
2.Is it OK to load this with WORD XML protocol, as there is an advisory NOT to use Word with formatting, but there is no other way to upload the file that Synthasite will accept?
3.What should I do about the file appearing as a ? in the files menu? This suggests the wrong appellation.
4. The link described above -- where do you envision it being placed in a typical application (what site, what page) to confirm what I think? It would typically go on the home page of the site you just made the link for, right?
