A comment on the question "Photosynth does not install error code 80071a30" in Microsoft Live Labs:
This appears to be a problem with Windows in general, and not something that we can really help with unfortunately (Windows is a much bigger product that we can support on Photosynth :-) )
I would recommend contacting Microsoft support for help with this. – Bert, on October 16, 2009 17:42

Hi Diana, sorry to hear you're having problems with the site.
To help us narrow down the problem is Silverlight working for you on other sites (like the main Microsoft Silverlight site: http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/)?

Hi Harald, you can edit the author fields on your pictures (looks like you're using either Vista or Win7 from the sceenshot, so just use the photo explorer to set the author) and then you'll get the copyright info on each image. For example, I just did this with a synth I uploaded today:

Bert replied on May 22, 2009 19:42 to the problem "error A0000008? what does it mean?" in Microsoft Live Labs:
The error relates to authenticating your account with our service + Windows Live ID. In the past, we've seen this caused by firewall/proxy issues, this thread has a workaround that worked for another customer, can you try it?

Glad to hear the issue sorted itself out. We actually do have a retry UI, if you right click on a synth that has completed/failed, you get a popup menu that has an Edit option, click that and you can re-try the synth.

For error codes, we have a list here on getsat, although this specific one is missing, we'll get that fixed.

Hmm, well as far as uploads go, we can handle that many photos (there are synths on the site with more photos than that).
If you're up for some troubleshooting, you can try a smaller synth first to see if you get the same error, then increase the number of photos to get to your final synth.
There are some other things we could try if the problem is reproducible, but would require some more work on your end, so let me know how your next pass goes and then we can figure out next steps from there.

Bert replied on May 11, 2009 21:04 to the question "Installation error with Photosynth" in Microsoft Live Labs:
Hi Zolar, here's a couple of things to try:
This thread has a report of a user with a slightly different error code, but hitting a problem in the same area, that successfully got the install working:
http://getsatisfaction.com/livelabs/t...
This thread has another report from a user with (again) a slightly different error code, but also hitting a problem in the same area, haven't successfully diagnosed the root cause yet, but there some info on log files that can be helpful for us to troubleshoot:

Hi alphadogg, could you send me the log file at: %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log? I've been in contact with some other people at Microsoft that know more about these kinds of install issues than I do, and have been asked to get that log file to help with troubleshooting.
If you can, send me that file via mail (my work address is bert.molinari@microsoft.com), and I'll forward it along and we'll see if we can get this one solved!
Bert replied on May 04, 2009 00:37 to the question "Deleting?" in Microsoft Live Labs:
Hi Bill, to delete a synth you need to be logged into the site and on your profile page (you can get to your profile page by clicking your username in the header of the page).
Once you're on your page, click on the Synts tab and you'll see a little x in the top right of each synth you've made. Just click that x to delete it.
