Ah OK that makes sense. Now I understand that Help Center is just for templating for branding purposes but uses the same getsatisfaction.com database for the content itself. – Beth, on July 10, 2008 08:07

I think so - just to confirm - if there is already content on getsatisfaction.com and then we later create our own Help Center installation on our own server, the content will be the same and our Help Center won't be empty? I just don't quite get how a new installation of ours will have the same content if it is using a fresh database on our servers and we haven't imported anything from your servers...? – Beth, on July 07, 2008 14:19

I tried again having already logged into wordpress before I began. Same problem - clicking 'create account' brings up a loading circle symbol which then disappears but you are left on the same page. I took a screenshot:

Can't create an onaswarm account with wordpress openIDI can't seem to create an account on onaswarm. I tried using my openID which is a wordpress URL and as usual logged in to wordpress and clicked the 'continue logging in to onaswarm' link, but was brought back to the sign up form where my openID was written out but then another box asked me for my openID again, and filling out all the fields just did nothing. I am using the Flock browser.

Beth replied on June 19, 2008 10:35 to the problem "Never Ending Friend Request" in Pownce:
Nah, my never ending friend request is from my boyfriend - I know this because I was sat with him when he added me - then when I logged in and tried to accept, the error popped up and he was not added. Then I just went to his profile and friend requested him so he is added now, but I still have the friend request notification that won't go away!

If you read my blog post linked above, I point out that Pownce for example offers a whole drop-down list of options.

Much more post-modern don't you think? The fact that Spock follows a standard that is uniform across a majority of websites doesn't excuse anything. This is a complaint I have had with a number of websites. Some sites are making changes for the better, and helping people to be more aware of gender diversity. I do think that when you are creating a site where the user creates a personal profile, you have a responsibility to be forward-thinking in terms of identity politics.
In addition, I have found that it is not a uniform policy to demand Male/Female gender on sign-up - many sites allow you to leave this blank. Also it is actually very rare for there to be a pre-set default gender set (Spock defaults to Male).
