A comment on the question "Problems/issues/suggestions for songbird 1.1" in Songbird:
I don't see anything in my Profile folder that looks like it belonged to these extensions. I looked at the install.rdf files in each subfolder of the "extensions" directory to find out which extension the the subfolder was for -- but none were from the extensions mentioned. (If others are trying to check this in Windows: type %appdata% into your file manager window and look for Songbird under Profiles.) – Bibliophile, on March 13, 2009 13:41

I thought an uninstall would get rid of the &servicepane.seeqpod ghost, but it's still there after the uninstall (?!). I have a similar ghost hanging around after uninstalling the nowplaying extension: the Play Queue link is still at the bottom of the pane but doesn't do anything. Anybody know how to get these to uninstall cleanly?

Thanks Hani. I appreciate the quick reply, and I can see how the feed is causing the problem. – Bibliophile, on January 15, 2009 17:39
A comment on the idea "Suggestions for improving the Now Playing List" in Songbird:
@fishe, I think the priority class is a great idea. I'm not sure what user wouldn't want this in the core, but it's such a crucial piece of functionality that it really needs to have the same priority as the core with each release. – Bibliophile, on January 15, 2009 15:11

I am having a similar problem with this feed:
http://www.transitchicago.com/rss/rai...
The same posts come in as notifications every few hours. Maybe the publisher is republishing the posts every few hours, but when I look at the feed in my feed reader, only the most recent posts show up. Is there anything I can do to fix it?-

Cool -- sounds great! Thanks for the quick reply. – Bibliophile, on January 06, 2009 18:53

One way to solve this problem is to allow the user to change the way the feed title displays in Notify.me. I can't usually get a content provider to change the title their XML code, but it would be easy enough if I could just change the properties of a source record in notify.me.
This is functionality I would like for other reasons as well: sometimes feed titles are overly long and take up unnecessary space in the e-mail headers when I receive a notification -- I would rather see a short "tag" identifying the source and then see more of the CONTENT of the notification in the header.-

How has this earned "The company implemented this idea."?? By an addon that has not been updated to work with the current version as of yet? I don't see any built in implementation of this 'idea'. Please advise or mark this thread 'outdated' if it is.
Although I love the addon capability of Songbird and will continue to, I am slowly starting to feel that Songbird is going to become a victim of it's own design.
Main issue; If an integral feature of a media player (ie- Now Playing window) is only available by an addon, then the end user is bound to that authors ability to update his addon promptly with every major release. This gets compounded with each addon the user chooses to incorporate in their setup.
I realize that Songbird is still young, but I feel this needs some review.
This specific feature should NOT be an addon and should be included in the core build.
Just my thoughts.
