A comment on the idea "64-bit Boxee" in boxee:
This thread is about 64 Bit for LINUX (specifically Ubuntu) - Not Windows.
And yes, there may be issues, particularly during future upgrades, etc. – BloggerSavvy, on August 21, 2009 17:19

Planning on getting my old Boxee account cancelled. It's been months and no support for 64bit. Truly that is too bad, but I've moved on. I kind of feel bad as I really would have like to enjoy Boxee. I remember reading somewhere that Boxee had to remove Hulu. But with no 64bit, (after several months), there's no sense in me waiting any longer. For months we've been hearing, in essence, "it's coming", but there seems never to be any movement or releases. As I said, I do feel bad (and crappy) to have to say, but I'd like to know how to delete my account.

Right on! Hardware has gone 64 Bit, buy new motherboards, CPU's, etc. They'll be 64 bit unless you specifically select older 32 bit. Windows has gone 64 bit, OS X 64 bit, Linux 64 bit. Whoever does the development, missed the mark big time! (In my opinion). Realistically though, I just don't understand (what looks like Boxee's) resistance to 64 bit? There are a lot of competitors and Boxee needs to get moving. Maybe (with regards to Boxee) I just don't know what the issues are. – BloggerSavvy, on July 16, 2009 12:06

It will cause system issues down the road. Why do you thing repositories are specific about 32 bit and 64 bit packages. If others can support 64bit, so can Boxee. – BloggerSavvy, on July 16, 2009 12:00

@zacharyw - Thanks for the update. Pretty much all the new PC's are 64bit (I haven't had 32bit laptops or PC's for about 4 years now). Since Boxee is not doing a 64bit version in the foreseeable future, I'm simply moving to other packages that do support 64bit. Please go ahead and tell me where the link is, to delete my Boxee account (sorry). Thanks so much for your time.
@gkamin - Thanks for the suggestion. Placing 32bit packages on a 64bit distribution, eventually causes problems (especially after a few updates and/or kernel updates go through). I (and a couple others I know), have had the joy of trying to manually upgrade packages, when everything else is automated. Again, thanks for the input. There are other solutions I'm looking at that do support 64bit.
Above all, don't get me wrong... I'm not saying Boxee is bad. It's just a simple issue where 64bit is not supported, in a 64bit system, where all my apps are also 64bit. I don't want to have an issue where I have to make package, library, and so on allowances to manage a 32bit system. In essence, running in legacy mode or dual boot/VM, a 32bit chroot, using ia-32 suite, etc. As I'm sure anyone might appreciate, ia32 libs method is the most seamless, but it is a pain to configure and maintain. Dual booting is the easy, but wastes disk space and I'd have to repartition the drives. The chroot method is also inefficient and relatively difficult to configure and possibly maintain. So... while I think Boxee is great, it's just a pity that (unlike others) there's no 64bit.

That's not the best solution as it is a way of accessing the 32 bit version (which can cause system problems down the road). It does not make it operate natively as a 64bit version. – BloggerSavvy, on May 23, 2009 17:59

Where or how can I terminate my boxee membership?I just found out that there is no 64Bit version of Boxee available. Therefore my boxee account is useless. Sorry.

Thanks for responding.
Unfortunately, yes, remove me (I will fire an email off to you). Now I'm getting email with information indicating I should "Mouse over the images for more detail." But I only get plain text email as I'm in a secured environment (not everyone has HTML email enabled and as this is a secure environment I cannot enable HTML - The old style email was great, it worked well!). None of the content has links to twitter profiles anymore either, just a big mashed together pile of text in the daily email - Not good to read at all!
I really hope this insight helps you.
I feel bad, and kind of sorry to say that I'll have to go. Sorry socialtoo! :(

Please cancel my account - How can I do that? The follow, unfollow feature does not work like it used to. Now I just get the total number of followers and the total number of unfollowers. It used to list each twitter account that followed and each that unfollowed, so I could check (as I have found errors in the report from time to time).
The email used to be plain text - which worked well. Now it's HTML.
In my opinion, it's frustrating when issues that were fixed keep coming back (such as follow/unfollow emails not arriving or with missing/inaccurate information) - In my opinion stability is one key to good service.
From time to time they system would skip days of report sending. Sometimes it was a short period, sometimes it was a longer period.
When it did work, it worked well. The report provided a list of all the people who unfollowed so that we could manually check. And of course it also listed the people who followed, again allowing for review. Just listing the total number, is not helpful as I can easily get that information anywhere.
Unfortunately I'm going to leave this service primarily because it no longer provides me with information of value. Total number of follows and unfollows? - I can see that using twitter, friendorfollow.com, etc. (at least they let me see who is doing what, not just showing a total number) - As such socialtoo's value (for me at least) as dropped. That's sad (even though this is a free service, it does get frustrating).
Why am I posting this? Hopefully on my way out I can impart some of my experiences, that might help socialtoo's future. (And I tend to be more vocal). If I've experienced such issues ore felt annoyance from time to time, then I'm sure others have.
I really hope that some of these experiences and opinions can help socialtoo's future and in turn help their community of users.
Thank you.

Zero follows and zero unfollows - It's happening againThis issue was fixed twice before, now it's returned again. I never received email for a couple days, then I get an email that says:
------------------------------------------
[IMAGE]
Followers: 0 Friends: 0
New Followers: 0 New Unfollowers: 0
Twitter
-------
Successful Tweets (an approximation) for BloggerSavvy:
No new follows
Unsuccessful Tweets (an approximation) for BloggerSavvy:
No new unfollows"
------------------------------------------
What can we do to stop this problem as it keeps coming back. FreindorFollow does not have this issue and they are always super accurate - So is TwitterGrader.

Forgot Password Link Does Not Work ProperlyThe "forgot password" link does not work. It forces you to give a twitter password even if you left that blank during registration. Now I cannot login, cannot reset and cannot use Social Too. :(
