You were told wrong. Even if there are no branches near you, you can still make transactions with your WaMu accounts (deposits, withdrawals, check and card orders, et.al.). If you wish to close your account, all you need to do is make a withdrawal (you can write a check (which will zero out your WaMu balance) to yourself (or transfer funds) and have it deposited onto your new (different) bank account)) or request by mail. I'm sure their customer service would provide you with their bank by mail transactions address. Request for account closeout, even if you still have remaining balance, if there's no way you can zero it out, they would just send a check to you.

No worries, Marta. WaMu sends out a replacement card approximately 1 month before your card expires. If you haven't received the card by the time they sent it out (ask their customer service when did the bank actually sent it) within 5-7 business days, then verify your mailing address, request to cancel the card, and reissue a new one. (in such cases, that could have possibly lost in the mail).

bluffalosoldier replied on January 23, 2009 06:26 to the problem "Charge dispute!" in Washington Mutual:
It is a transaction seemingly between you and Acaipure. Most likely, Acaipure, for some reason, has your card details. And again, most likely, you are a victim of phishing, which is very rampant over the net.
Call Acaipure, and after agreeing that this is unauthorized, have them call the bank with the approval code, so they can delete the trans off the pending trans. If the trans however, was already posted (or would not cooperate to call your bank), file a claim with the bank's Claim dept, it will include charges that has incurred because of the specific trans. Their Fraud dept would most likely cancel your card and issue you a new one, primarily because your card details have been compromised.
To avoid future unauthorized transactions, keep your card details secure, off the web, and other marketing stuff.
