Accoring to Mozilla's instructions for Ubiquity it is activated(started up or whatever term you prefer) in Linux by doing ctrl+alt+space which ic supposed to bring up a black box into which you type commands.
It happens in my Windoze machine( actual keys that need to be pressed are different), it does not happen in my Linux Mint machine
