Intermittent issues with the Twitter API doesn't seem to explain why the timestamps are so wrong though -- surely you should use the timestamp on the tweet? The exact same thing is happening with Flickr -- whenever tumblr does update, it seems to just lump everything together with the same (wrong) timestamp, making the whole thing totally non-sensical.

Dunno if this is the same issue -- my twitter feed is taking forever (like 8-9 hours) to import, and when it does, the timestamps are all very, very wrong -- half of them are out of order.
