Hi Bobert,
It appears that you have the first edition of Learning Java. The file you mention is Borland's JBuilder Foundation 3.5. That is a very old version and it's not usable anymore because it required an activation code from Borland, which they no longer have. The reason it was included on the CD to begin with was that there was a licensing problem so we couldn't include Sun's Java SDK. JBuilder included that.
The current version of Learning Java includes the Java SDK on the CD, plus Netbeans and Eclipse IDEs.
To follow the text of the first edition, I would recommend downloading an older version of Java - http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/downlo...
(I believe the book used java 1.3, but it's no longer available)
The book concentrates on using the Java SDK, and not an IDE anyway, so it should be fine.
