Yea, my bad..I just went and tested it again and it works. I spoke too soon - I actually had post micro-blogs checked in my facebook settings! Sorry to get all angry :)

But this is hardly a solution..come on ping.fm fix it already. Why does "photo posting" have to equal "everything posting to status" on facebook?

This is related to selecting to enable photo posting to facebook. It doesn't happen if you disable photo posting to facebook. Ping.fm has had this problem ever since they started with the photo posting option, as far as I can tell, and it is very annoying. The photo posting to facebook doesn't even work - it just pushes a link to the photo at ping.fm. Lame.

I noticed this only started happening after I had checked the "post photos" option under the facebook posting settings at my ping.fm account. Maybe this new capability is the culprit as to why we're seeing this problem?

I too am annoyed with this. Note also that even when I do "reauthenticate" with facebook, I never see any facebook updates in my lifestream, so something still isn't working with this

A comment on the problem "Verizon support?" in Brightkite:

that's a cool workaround Chris J :) But not such a good option if you ever send texts to your own email (which I do). Still, good to know. Maybe the convenience will make it worthwhile for me to stop using my texts to my own email. Do you notice any significant additional lag due to the extra step? I've been using the blank picture message solution since bkite has blocked emails from vtext.com – bodhi, on August 12, 2008 17:12

Thanks Lesley..I'll go back to using picture messaging without a picture (which comes in from vzwpix.com not vtext.com) to use brightkite from my phone. This is what I did last time it malfunctioned. is it broken again? all of a sudden starting yesterday (and continuing through to today) I got a ton of brightkite confirmations of me checking in, even though I only checked in once, and my stream shows me checking in many times. same for a friend, also on verizon. – bodhi, on July 22, 2008 18:22

Not silly at all! I thought I had done it right (even doublechecked) but I went and logged out of twitter and sure enough, the pass i thought I was using wasn't correct. then i remembered i changed it a week ago (on mobile) and forgot. duh. the "your Twitter credentials are invalid" thing was on in Brightkite but I was just ignoring it thinking it was something wrong with Bright kite :) – bodhi, on July 21, 2008 23:33
