Sounds like you're trying to use Qtrax, right? That requires the Flash player - which should have been installed with the Qtrax installer.

Media Player Controls Not Appearing.
The player's media controls such as play, stop and pause buttons do not show up in the upper left hand corner. Instead I see a white box that tells me to "Click here to download plugin." I've clicked there and a plugin is not installed, no action is taken.
