Boris replied on June 30, 2009 17:55 to the problem "M4P Protected files play 'silently' after update to 1.2" in Songbird:
Follow up on a Bug #16948:
It might be the case when your m4p files play silently in Songbird beacuse your current machine is not authorized through iTunes to play files obtained from iTunes.
If you purchased your files using iTunes on another machine, you should
authorize your current machine using your iTunes account. Normally, if you have an iTunes installed on your machine, it would give you a prompt to authorize computer:"This computer is not authorized to play "File.m4p...". You won't get prompted, if iTunes is not installed.

Boris replied on May 05, 2009 19:48 to the problem "Some songs will not play, a gstreamer error pops up" in Songbird:
@All Windows users.
to play m4a files you need to have QuickTime or QTLite installled in your OS.
BTW, more informative error message instead of that generic "Gstreamer error" should be fixed

and working in the latest nightly builds.
@Linux users (thecarpy and Laura)
We have a few different problems playing different file types on Linux.
You rerrors are different.
I would suggest, you search GetSatisfaction and our Bugzilla for those specific errors. If nothing is found, the best way is to file new bug reports and indicate all the details, file types, build you're using, etc.

Boris replied on May 04, 2009 17:23 to the problem "Songbird does not follow Windows 7 windows rules" in Songbird:
Happysin,
Windows 7 is unsupported at the moment(we don't test on it just yet).
If you believe, that described behaviour is a Songbird bug, file a bug report in Bugzilla.

Thanks.

Boris replied on April 30, 2009 23:12 to the idea "PLEASE ADD SUPPORT FOR IPOD TAGS" in Songbird:
jomaweb,
Tagging support is a field we're going have to work on in Future.
That was one of the first feature suggestions filed in Bugzilla:
http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show...
I suggest, you file another feature request for specific iPod tagging support as well.

Can you provide details on XP theme you're using, link you're installing it from and detailed steps to reproduce your problem? That would be better if you file a bug report in Bugzilla and provide all the information in there. Boris replied on April 23, 2009 18:09 to the question "iTunes imports but won't play & where's the meta data gone?" in Songbird:
What platform are you running on your desktop and your laptop?
How the external drive is mounted in the OS on your laptop?
Is your laptop with external drive is always on and connected(wired or via bluetooth) when you're attempting to play those files from your desktop?
In other words, can you navigate to that external drive from your desktop during the playback?
Do you get any messages, something like.."Source is not found..." when you're trying to play tracks in Songbird on a desktop?
Why want you connect your external drive with the media directly to your desktop when you're home?

Boris replied on April 21, 2009 00:35 to the question "Second-hand feather edits?" in Songbird:
All the feathers are posted on Songbird add-ons site under "Appearance":
http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addons...
Clicking on linked name redirects you to add-on summary page where you can post your question directly to the feather author.
IMO, it sounds reasonable to use other feathers elements to create your own feather(since we're in open source environment), but it still would be a good idea to check with the feathers authors first.
Boris replied on April 20, 2009 22:30 to the problem "No audio with song" in Songbird:
I guess, you're on Windows...
We just found this ourselves in 1.2.0a builds on Windows only.
http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show...
Will be fixed right a way.
Thanks for reporting this.
Boris replied on April 17, 2009 22:00 to the problem "Songbird sometimes "trips" on songs." in Songbird:
Bug #14891 is fixed on trunk.
songbird.mediacore.output.buffertime is set to 2000 ms by default on all the platforms.
That would be good to have a feedback from users who experienced this problem.
You can try the latest 1.2.0a builds at:
http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Develope...
and check it with the files you had a problem with? You can comment directly in a bug.
Thanks.
