boxmonkey replied on November 22, 2009 23:19 to the idea "Last.fm scrobbler" in Grooveshark:
Every time we get close to having time to work on this a bunch of other stuff gets piled on top. That said, barring any major surprises, I'm expecting this feature to make it into the release after next (next release goes out some time this week). Keep in mind that all new features are released to VIP members only so they can try it out and give us feedback on it, so I can't say when it will be available to *everyone,* but at least we're pretty close to being able to actually write the code for it.
You guys might be a bit surprised to find that scrobbling support is actually not a very popular feature request according to the surveys we have run; it just happens that those of you who want it *really* want it. Essentially everything that has been given priority over this is either due to working on features that are more popular or more profitable. There are still a few feature requests that are more popular than scrobbling support, but we do want you to be happy, and besides it's a fun project. I'll post an update when the feature has been added to the VIP-only preview section of Grooveshark.

I probably should have clarified that I'm not here for "official" support, I was just bored/couldn't sleep and saw that some clarification was needed, so I stepped in to shed what little light I can. It does suck that your requests for support went unanswered, it's not much of an excuse but we have a *massive* backlog of support requests and not enough people to handle them all right now. That's bad, and we're working hard to get more people on it. In the meantime it might seem like your feedback is being ignored. There also seems to be some issue where people might be sending support requests to an address that doesn't get much attention. The best way for VIP users to get support is through the feedback button in Grooveshark, although again the turnaround time on that may not be entirely satisfactory due to the backlog. – boxmonkey, on October 29, 2009 15:31

boxmonkey replied on October 29, 2009 14:41 to the question "Grooveshark on Playstation 3 is now broken :(" in Grooveshark:
From what I've read, the PS3 actually supports flash 9 now, which is what we require (and always have). Theoretically we don't have to worry about accidentally breaking backwards compatability, because the compiler won't let us (if we say the target is flash 9, it dies if we try to use flash 10 code).
The thing that stinks about flash is if something crashes, it will not tell the user no matter what. My guess is something is crashing, but it won't tell you what, it just silently fails. That means there's no way for you to give us much in the way of details either, and it looks like there is no "debug" version of flash available for PS3. Usually the debug version of flash will actually tell you about what's wrong when something crashes, but with that not being available on the PS3 this is going to be difficult to track down for sure.
One thing you can try which is a very very long shot, but might be worth giving a try anyway, is try to clear the browser cache and then reload. Definitely let us know if that works, but in the meantime I'll see if we can't get our hands on a PS3.

Hi there,
That's a bummer! We haven't started requiring a newer version of flash, so it's not that. Unfortunately we don't have a PS3 in the office to test with (and I don't have one at home), and I don't even know much about how the browser works on the PS3, so unfortunately I don't have much to contribute right now. I just wanted to say we had no idea that this was broken. Hopefully this will be a good excuse to get a PS3 in here. ;)

Guys, I'm just a developer here, so I don't know everything there is to know about our licensing and all that, but I hope I can shed some light on a couple of misunderstandings.
We comply with the DMCA by removing content when we receive a takedown notice for that content, just like YouTube, Vimeo and every other service that allows users to upload content. We send you an email notifying you when there is a takedown notice for content that you have uploaded to the systsem, and we give you the opportunity to contest that claim if it is invalid. Please note that we only remove the content that was claimed to be infringing. If *that* content is still available on the site, then there has been a serious error on our part. If you did not receive the email from us notifying you of the takedown, please check your spam folder.
We block your account from uploading again because we would be required to ban you from the site if there was another infringement claim. This way you can keep your account and continue using Grooveshark worry free. You should also note that the new interface allows you to add songs to your library without uploading them, so if someone else uploads the songs you are looking for, you can add them to your library by selecting and dragging them, or clicking the add to library button.

boxmonkey replied on October 24, 2009 18:46 to the question "Artist compensation, how does it work?" in Grooveshark:
Hi Randy, I'm not involved in that side of the business operations so I can't give you a very detailed answer, however I do know that we have an entire website dedicated to artists at http://artists.grooveshark.com/ and I know it lets artists track things like how many plays they are getting, etc.. As one of the few employees at Grooveshark who isn't also a musician, I don't have an account there, but presumably it has a way for artists to see how much they are earning as well. :)
