I'm also interested in an answer. The thing is, on OS X it seems like Songbird ALWAYS outputs through the first device, no matter what. iTunes, on the other hand, does follow the system preferences. I learned that when I tried to setup my 5.1 surround system. It's kind of complicated on a Mac and it took me quite a while to realize that Songbird was the problem.

Or, I am making some kind of mistake. Don't know.
