A comment on the question "Organizing my site" in Yola:
Randy,
Ideally you would store all your data on hostmonster on a subdomain, like media.mcran.com (you would have to contact hostmonster/read their documentation to find out how to add new records and point them at your existing data), and configure the DNS for www.mcran.com and mcran.com to point at Yola (see http://www.yola.com/tutorials/publish... ).
I would only be speculating on the exact steps you need to take to achieve that set up using hostmonsters infrastructure, but, in principal, it should be straightforward to do. – Bradley, on November 12, 2009 20:37

Hey,
Have you ever looked at using the internet archive (http://www.archive.org) to store all your shows? I think there may be a requirement to liberally license the work, but, have a look at their terms on http://www.archive.org/about/terms.php
It is a free service (as far as I know), and is akin to putting your digital media into the smithsonian. You probably have copyrighted works not under your control, so it might not be a viable option, but if it is, I would urge you to consider it as an option.

Hi,
We use tracking code on all published sites to monitor and profile load times of our users sites, and to note visitor activity. All data captured is anonymous, and the intention of any data capture we do do is to improve our users experience. You can rest assured that we do not correlate data to any personal data, and we do not, and will not ever sell usage data on to any 3rd parties.

Hi funfairevans,
I am one of the systems engineers at Yola. We have a number of monitoring services in place to ensure we are aware of, and can respond to, availability issues. While we cannot claim to have 100% availability at present, we have definitely not experienced the kind of service disruptions of which you are speaking. As Duke pointed out, all of the sites are situated in the same hosting cluster, and, as such, the kind of downtime you are talking about would have resulted in a torrential spate of complaints from other customers.
.
We are examining your case within our internal support channel, and would appreciate specific times and durations of unavailability. Please add them to your support query, by responding to our support@yola.com address. This additional information will assist us greatly in correlating the down-time you observed, with our monitoring services.
We pride ourselves on having a high availability, high quality service, and I am sorry you have found our free product unfavorable for your business.

A comment on the question "What security and anti-virus protection does Synthasite use?" in Yola:
You would need to use Microsoft's knowledgebase articles to figure out what the best way to secure your copy of Windows. Someone might be able to help you on GetSatisfaction, but I haven't used Windows in many years. (My snooty reply would be stop running Windows if you want to reduce the risk of virus and malware attacks) – Bradley Whittington, on March 03, 2009 10:14

Bradley Whittington replied on March 03, 2009 08:46 to the question "What security and anti-virus protection does Synthasite use?" in Yola:
Hi,
Defending web servers from attacks by crackers has a very different approach to that used to defend your standard desktop. Our servers run a Linux operating system that has unnecessary services disabled, and will not be infected by conventional desktop viruses (as these target the windows platform). We are rigorous in our approach to securing our servers and services.
So, to answer the initial question, we do not use Anti-Virus software because it is irrelevant to our platform. We do, however, follow best practices for mitigating and preventing attacks against the Synthasite platforms.
Is there a specific reason you asked the question about anti-virus?
