Hey im_uptight,
(Ha! Awesome username).
Thanks for sending in your ideas. You've got some good ones there...or so we think. ;) If you update your sidebar by downloading again at http://me.dium.com then you'll get the social toolbar along with it that will allow you to write on walls, poke etc...
I don't want to promise anything (things change quickly around here), but keep an eye on the changes to Me.dium in the next few weeks. We have some ideas we're trying to get rolled out that we think you'll dig.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.
Take care,
Brent

Hi Broodwich,
We are extremely concerned about privacy and believe that you own all of your information. Our privacy page ( http://me.dium.com/privacy ) details our thoughts a bit more. Under the 'You Own Your Information' section we let you know how you can go about getting your username/account deleted.
If you'd like to do so, please send an email to support@me.dium.com and we will begin the process.
I hope that's not the case and that you were merely inquiring as to our policy. We'd hate to see you go.
Take care,
Brent

Hi Mateo,
That's as easy as changing the picture on your profile. https://me.dium.com/my/dashboard/
Select the 'choose file' button under Picture on the left side.
It may take a couple hours for it to fully trickle through our system, but that will change your photo.
Thanks for writing.

Brent D. replied on June 16, 2008 16:58 to the problem "Can't open in new tab!" in Me.dium:
Hey Jessica,
Sorry for the delay in responding.
We used to have ever click spawn a new window, but people's browsers were crashing with 30+ tabs open. Needless to say we changed it, but now we're having the opposite issue (with everyone having to maintain a single tab).
I'm going to log this as an improvement and we'll kick around the merits of going back to the old method at our next product feature prioritization roundup.
This is an obvious work around, but I hit Ctrl-T (Apple-T on a Mac) before clicking in the sidebar so that it will open in a new tab.
Thanks for the feedback and taking the time to write.
Take care,
Brent

Brent D. replied on June 13, 2008 17:28 to the question "Why is there nobody on my map?" in Me.dium:
Hey Bytesmasher,
(Great username, btw)
We made a change a couple months ago that took the 'strangers' out of your map. The idea being that it was (in theory) more fun to surf with friends. My first and best recommendation would be to drag a few of your friends into Me.dium and surf with them.
My second and not as useful recommendation is to click the (M) in the top of the sidebar. By doing this you'll be able to see other sites that are recommended as well as 'blue people.' Blue people are the people you don't know. As of now you can't reach out to them, but we have some plans in the works to find a work around for this.
I hope that helps somewhat.
Thanks for taking the time to write and if there's anything I can do to help just let me know.
Take care,
Brent

Hey Vanderoh,
Thanks for the great idea. While we've talked about this on occasion we've never had anyone specifically request it. We have a long list of features we want to build and we will certainly add this to the list.
Every few weeks we huddle back up and decide on the next set of features. I will certainly convey your idea to the team.
Thanks again.

Hey Wayne,
While we should be OS agnostic (note: we do work on Fx3 on other systems), it appears you've found our kryptonite. I'll circle back with our dev team to make sure that we don't run on linux-based systems, but I do know that we haven't Q/A'd the sidebar on any platforms other than OSX and Windows to date.
I'm very sorry the sidebar is not working for you. We'll get there one of these days...
Thanks for writing Wayne.

Brent D. replied on May 28, 2008 19:29 to the problem "i need help getting my facebook friends imported" in Me.dium:
Well...
It's not an elegant solution, but this should work until we figure out a cleaner way to resolve this bug.
1. Break the connection between Me.dium and Facebook. (Go to Facebook and click 'privacy' in the upper right, then click 'applications,' and then click 'remove' next to the Me.dium+Facebook application).
2. Clear your cache. (In Firefox, Tools --> Clear Private Data --> Check just Cache and hit the clear button. In Internet Explorer, Tools --> Options --> Delete Files tab then clear your Temporary Internet Files)
3. Close and restart your browser. Open Me.dium (If the sidebar doesn't pop up automatically then hit the icon with the three people in it next to your address bar)
4. Hit import Facebook friends and try the process again.
Sorry for the messy solution. I hope that works for you.
We're still working out a couple kinks with this and we're glad you wrote in.
Let me know if that doesn't work for you.

Hi Metrian835,
Sorry you're having troubles importing your friends. We try to make that a seamless process, but we're clearly failing you somehow. I'm going to ask around to see if anyone has experienced this and knows how to work around it. Shouldn't be too long.
Thanks for writing. We'll get this sorted out.

Hey Oalie Style,
Thanks for the recommendation. You're definitely right, it is not tremendously easy to reopen the sidebar and you suggestions are good ones. I'm going to add them to the ideas queue. We reprioritize all ideas, bug and features every couple weeks so we'll talk about this soon.
Many thanks for taking the time to write to us.
Hope you had a good long weekend.

Hey Noxion,
We pushed a new version last night. Do you mind downloading the latest version from our site? Just go to http://me.dium.com and give it another whirl. We think we've found the bug that caused this and squashed him yesterday. Downloading again should cure it.
Thanks for being patient with us.

Brent D. replied on May 20, 2008 16:29 to the idea "Increased gearing" in Me.dium:
Hey Ruski,
Thanks for the note. Not sure I fully understand what you're suggesting. Right now, assuming your buddy is visible, you will be able to see exactly what site they're viewing (unless it's a secured site).
Are you asking to see which other tabs your buddy has open?
This is an interesting idea, we'd have to figure out a way to think through that from a user interface perspective without over-complicating the map. The reason we focus on just showing the single active page, however, is so that you and your friend can actually share an experience like you would in the real world. Kind of like watching TV together if you're on YouTube, for example.
Would love to hear more about what you were thinking.
Thanks,
Brent

Brent D. replied on May 19, 2008 17:39 to the problem "My current active page not being updated" in Me.dium:
Hey Meg,
You're right. It should be showing the same location all the way around. I was having this issue too and had it cleared once I reinstalled the latest version of Me.dium. You don't have to uninstall, just visit me.dium.com and grab the latest.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you (your mail got lost in my inbox over the weekend).
If that doesn't solve the issue, let me know and I'll scout around here for the fix for that bug.
Thanks, as always, for your input. We'd love to know what you think of the new sidebar. Always love the feedback.
Take care,
Brent
Brent D. replied on May 19, 2008 17:01 to the problem "problem with new tabs" in Me.dium:
Hey Goukiman,
Thanks for alerting us to the issue. And thanks for taking the time to write.
We've fixed this a couple times, but it's apparently come unfixed again. Sorry about that. I've filed this as a bug in our system and we hope to get it fixed again very soon.
We'll try to get this taken care of quickly so you can use Me.dium in your other browsers again.
Thanks again,
Brent

Hi Noxion,
Sorry to hear about the problem you're having with the sidebar. Can I ask a couple questions to help us pinpoint the problem?
1. What browser do you use?
2. Have you recently upgraded your version of Me.dium?
If you're running Internet Explorer and haven't upgraded recently a not-so-pretty solution is to uninstall Me.dium, reboot your computer and then reinstall the latest version at http://me.dium.com.
Sorry that's a bit clunky, we have a fix scheduled to get pushed later this week.
Please let me know if that doesn't work.
Thanks for writing.

Brent D. replied on May 19, 2008 15:32 to the problem "How do i use this thing??" in Me.dium:
Hey Cranky Geek (great name by the way),
We've changed a few things with the sidebar so there is no longer a shoutout tab. What we've done is focus on your friends. The main view of the map will show you where you are in relation to your friends who are sharing their location.
You can still see recommended sites if you click the M with the circle around it at the top of the sidebar.
For more info on what's changed and how to use it, please check out the following:

I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any questions. And if you want to borrow some of our friends you can choose from the following:
brentd ---> that's me
gfigg ---> ginevra
pjn ---> peter
jenniferlauren ---> jenny
Thanks,
Brent
