Internet Time Synchronization

I just set up our Cablecast unit to use an internally produced Internet Time Synchronization signal. This is the same signal that the computers, phones and PA system use in our building, so now our progamming will be in sync with the bells (very important in a school).
Should I also change the Time Synchronization on my Carousel Player and video servers, or is the Cablecast server the only one that really matters?

For some reason the current weather conditions do not seem to be updating. I think it has been going on for about a week.

I have tried the following:

*Choose a different area (I tried other counties here in Indiana and even tried Florida). All display 46 degrees with calm winds.

*Stopped and restarted Carousel.

*Restarted server.

*Copied slide.

*Checked with our network guy to make sure that port 21 was open.


No matter what I did the conditions would not change. Here is the channel (looks a little screwed up since it is an 800x75 zone): http://frontdoor.cps.k12.in.us/Carous...


Any ideas?

Changing internal IP addresses

Due to some reconfigurations of our network, we have to change the IP addresses of our Tightrope equipment. Besides the physical address on the machines, where else do we need to make changes so that everything continues to communicate?
The areas that I can think of are:
*Cablecast -->Location Settings -->Control Module Sets
*Remap E: (Video Server)

Anything else?

Yep, I can get to ftp://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov from the machine running Carousel/Carousel Framework.

I tried to totally rebuild a current condition page and it will not update. Only gives me a screen with #temp# #currently# material, even when I let it sit overnight. Also, I noticed that our weather crawl crapped out too. It is also an old forecast. Our RSS news (Yahoo and local newspaper) is updating okay.

I noticed that a few other people have the same question. Does anyone have current conditions that ARE working correctly? Did the weather service change something recently?

Once a week I go in to all of my TRMS equipment and manually do all of the updates.

Do you have your automatic updates (Windows and Virus) turned off? We had some issues when we had the automatic updates turned on and it updated overnight and locked things up.

On your switcher, can you manually punch in Carousel to go to the correct channel?

We also use the latest local news RSS feed from one of our local papers. We were also using a "Word of the Day" but it was getting a little to commercialized (they would also try to sell a book, but sometimes the book ad was all you saw).

What should we consider the life span of our video servers and VOD servers to be? I'm not just talking the life of the physical piece of equipment, but also the support and (update) compatibility from TRMS.

I was looking at some of the demos and I saw the DEMO-k-12-Additional Info channel has the text at an angle. How is this done? I looked at the template, but nothing jumped out at me.

I had the same problem. It seemed like it would do this if the show was around 30 minutes long (or longer). Tech support added a reset script to my VOD desktop.
