Brian replied on September 10, 2009 13:56 to the question "Where have my passwords disappeared to?" in Xmarks:
I have the same problem. Here is how to reproduce it:
1. Sync passwords from home computer to xmarks
2. sync passwords from xmarks to work computer
3. Logout of Firefox on work computer with the "clear passwords on exit" option enabled.
4. Startup firefox. Login to my.xmarks.com. Accidentally hit "save this password". Now you have exactly one password.
5. Sync passwords. Xmarks deletes everything from the server.
I hope I can still get the passwords from my home computer. There really does not seem to be anyway to use xmarks to temporarily download passwords to a work or other public computer, and delete them from Firefox at the end of the session.
Brian reported a problem in mAPPn Inc. on July 04, 2009 14:48:
Shows no files with iphone os 3.0Just installed Discover on my iPod Touch running iPhone OS 3.0. It appears to work fine, but shows no files, just two empty folders (Public and Private).
Brian replied on April 02, 2009 02:08 to the question "Reports. Moneydance Vs. Quickbooks." in The Infinite Kind:
Not sure what OS you are running on, but you can usually pick up an old version of Quickbooks pretty cheap. I've seen 2 or 3-year old Windoze versions on sale at Costco for $9.95. I'm running a 6-year old version of QB on the Mac for my 3 businesses, with no problems.
On the other hand, I sure was glad to ditch Quicken and go with Moneydance for my personal finances.
A comment on the question "Need help setting up an existing mortgage." in The Infinite Kind:
Excellent. Just saw the reply and it works perfect. To restate Carl's solution for anyone else:
1. Import from Quicken will turn your mortgage into a liability account.
2. Create a new MD loan account. Set the principal to 0. Setup the interest rate and total number of payments over the life of the loan. Setup any escrow payment. Select "Specify Payment" and enter your total mortgage payment.
3. Go to the liability account. Select all payments (ctrl-a or cmd-a). Right click in the selected area, choose Batch Change->Account. Select the new loan account you just made. If you want a transaction reminder, let it set one up when prompted, but it will be wrong for now.
4. All of the transaction from the liability account will get moved over, including the initial balance, and all the principal payments.
6. Open the Loan account, and MD should now show the correct information on the right-hand side.
7. If you setup a reminder, you will see that it shows the wrong payment amount on the home page. Go to the Reminders screen, select the reminder, edit it, then click OK. Now it should be right everywhere.
