Also, did anyone use ♪Photo? Whilst not the most streamlined media view, it was certainly different and took advantage of Songbird. Shame it hasn't been updated in a while.

I've noticed lately that when you use an album grid view a lot you start to forget about certain artists in the library, so I wanted to make a mock up for a view that would give more attention to artists. I was thinking about how it is fun seeing pictures of the artists you listen to on last.fm, and how certain media views for Songbird such as Catalogue View and ♪Photo already make use of them, and I got this idea.



It would need to be able to crop the pictures to a certain ratio like last.fm does when it displays artist pictures on your profile page. I think having artist pictures would make it a lot more fun to browse through your library. I especially liked the idea of having the artist column take up more vertical room, rather than how short it is made in the default filter views of Songbird and iTunes, because you usually have a long list of artists but don't need as much vertical space for albums or songs. Unfortunately, this configuration isn't possible using the Customize Filter Pane addon either. I made a mock up of what it would look like without artist pictures for people who might want to keep it simpler.

Songbird cropping metadata titles problem/fix?

A while ago I disabled metadata writing in the about:config dialogue as Songbird was deleting portions of song titles. It seemed it was long titles (>20 characters) being cropped, but some short ones were having the last few letters deleted as well.

Example: "Metropolis, Pt. 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper" was renamed to something like "Metropolis, Pt. 1: The Mirac"

With the recent release of 1.1, I was wondering if this has been fixed? I don't want to re-enable writing only to find out it hasn't, and have to manually fix my library again!
