I had the same problem I was told that it was because service pack 3 wasn't compatible with my computer because the cpu in my computer was an AMD cpu and service pack 3 was set up for Intel cpu's. I was told to og to the remove programs and remove service pack 3 so i did, and it stopped it. The next time it ran update it removed all the vista programs. so if you have an AMD processor and service pack 3 remove the service pack 3 and it will fix everything. Microsoft Tech Support told me this. They also said the service pack 3 isn't that much different than the service pack 2 so there is really no reason to have it on your computer.

Get all 60 numbers in one column, for example A1, B1, C1, etc. Select the column next to the first cell - A2. Type the formula "=A1+75" in that cell. Now grab the lower-right corner of the A2 cell (the cursor should form a small plus sign) and drag down all 60 cells. All the cells in that second column should fill up with appropriate formulae to add 75 to the adjacent cell.

I agree that is dumb, but as a workaround Microsoft provides a free Word reader program: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/de...

Ananda Sim replied on August 23, 2008 10:31 to the question "tab bar for Word 2007" in Microsoft Corporation:
The Tab Bar interface is way later than the original Office design. "Classic" Office used an MDI interface in Windows 3.x - each document was in a window within the big window for the main program. Then IE 3.0 came out and people asked "why not SDI?" So, Office programs started littering the Windows Task Bar with one panel per document. Frontpage started having a tab bar before Microsoft gave up on it. But it was easier to modify because it was a simpler program.
In the meantime, we've often used Ctrl+F6 to switch between documents. Another technique is to use the Switch Windows command - I was just training a class and introduced the idea that they could put the Switch Windows command in the QAT (Quick Access Toolbar).
I'll write up that tip soon on my Office blog

Tools->Internet Options->Security Tab->Add the site to the "Restricted sites" zone. It won't stop you from opening the page, but it will certainly prevent the page from doing anything malicious to you. If you really need to not even see the page, you could probably hack up your 'hosts' file so the site's name points somewhere else.

After my computer Tech went through my computer and totally cleaned the hard drive and reinstalled a fresh clean copy of windows xp and everything else I need on my computer, all from original CD's and DVD's from the companies. and as soon as he hooked up the DSL the computer went right to Microsoft update and tried to load Vista stuff again. so he disabled all updates from Microsoft. until I can find out why this is happening, and get it stopped. he said he has never heard of this happening before. So it looks like I'm stuck here, because I'm not paying Microsoft $138.00 to fix their problem. I really need some help here.

If you need a guaranteed response, please contact Microsoft Support: http://support.microsoft.com. As far as I know just a couple of Microsoft folks follow this web site on an ad-hoc, if-our-day-job-gives-us-a-few-minutes, basis. I personally don't have any insight into this problem, or I'd help you.
