Bruce Linderman replied on September 22, 2009 20:34 to the question "REally REALLY hate the new sports format" in Chicago Tribune:
Anyone even remotely involved in the recent changes to the website should be fired!!! My four year nephew could've done a better job.
The worst part is, they have this forum for suggestions but they always just say "we'll look into it" or "we'll take it into consideration" but nothing has changed. My guess is that they just file all these suggestions and complaints in the good old circular filing cabinet known as the garbage.-

Bruce Linderman replied on September 22, 2009 20:31 to the question "How stupid do you think we are?" in Chicago Tribune:
I never thought I'd say this, but it seems as though the Sun Times is the best newspaper in Chicago now... so sad.
The Tribune was once a great paper, but that can no longer be said. It seems that they are more concerned with imbedding videos on their website than actually reporting the news! And when they do decide to actually report on something the level of journalism has become amateur at best. No wonder the paper is going bankrupt.
A comment on the question "What is the Constitutionality of Forced Healthcare Insurance Coverage?" in Chicago Tribune:
"Our Constitution doesn’t guarantee you the right to drive. Choose to drive then you must follow the legal requirements state-by-state."
Hmmm... well, our Constitution doesn’t guarantee you the right to be treated at a hospital either... Choose to be treated and then you must follow the legal requirements. Seems simple enough to me.
And no, this has nothing to do with "our inalienable right to life", as you call it... doctors and hospitals and healthcare in general SAVE lives... they do not grant it or protect it; and guess what, the service they provide (i.e. saving lives) does cost something, whether the patient pays or we the taxpayers do. – Bruce Linderman, on September 22, 2009 20:26

A comment on the idea "DISLIKE NEW FORMAT" in Chicago Tribune:
Yes, the online version of the paper is now virtually unreadable... the section tabs are enormous, the important news should be a the top, the links to all of the stories and reporters should remain along the left side, the top rollover bar is obnoxious and doesn't easily allow one to find what they are looking for and there is a general lack of content on the screen when the page opens (for instance, right now there are a total of ten headlines visible when the page opens)... oh yeah, and the rollover ads and imbedded video ads are horrendous (and I basically boycott any company that puts these obnoxious ads out there anyway). Oh, and I almost forgot, the general look of the website is terrible... looks like a third grader designed it. You should really consider reverting to any of the older versions that were used.
But I will give credit for one positive change, you did bring back the traditional masthead (not that it really matters since I don't visit the site that often anymore anyway- NYT is my new homepage). – Bruce Linderman, on September 18, 2009 18:50
Bruce Linderman replied on September 01, 2009 01:02 to the idea "DISLIKE NEW FORMAT" in Chicago Tribune:
Put breaking news back on top; put the rollover section tabs back along the left side instead of at the top where everything appears cluttered. The new sections (Chicagoland, sports, et al) look terrible in the new format. Also, why no Topix message boards? New comments sections are weak. Basically, the overall new design stinks!

Bruce Linderman replied on September 01, 2009 00:43 to the problem "COMMENT BOARD PROBLEMS" in Chicago Tribune:
Your new comments format SUCKS!!! Why did you change it? Ever hear the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Bring back Topix!
Also, I haven't found one positive upgrade with your new site... and there are many changes that are for the worse (like the lack of content on the front page... we don't want to rollover or click to find stories of interest) but nothing that makes the site easier to use or more user-friendly.

Bruce Linderman replied on August 20, 2009 16:38 to the question "Why can't the front page be designed like the Nation/World page?" in Chicago Tribune:
We want the news up front where we can easily find it without having to search rollover tabs and multiple pages. But their response is "We also have a nation/world page devoted to these issues. You can reach rolling over the news tab in the main navigation bar." Don't you guys get it... the customers want all the information to be easy to find and accessible to read from one location, we don't want to click all over the place. Also, the new format is quite cluttered which makes searching the stories that are on the fron page very difficult (plus, there are only three or four featured stories under each tab, whereas I'd like to be able to at least see the rest of the headlines for articles that are within each of those sections).
A comment on the question "Why can't the front page be designed like the Nation/World page?" in Chicago Tribune:
But that's exactly the problem... we want the information up front, not buried on another page! Your suggestion that "You can reach rolling over the news tab in the main navigation bar" is exactly what we hate about the new format. You are a newspaper... put the news up front for us. – Bruce Linderman, on August 20, 2009 16:31
A comment on the problem "Thumbs down" in Chicago Tribune:
Sorry, but the changes you made in no way "make the site easier to uses and scan and actually simpler to find the information you are looking for" as you state. What kinda market research told you that this was an improvement? I'm guessing not much. This is the second major site redesign and neither has brought any significant improvements (not to mention that you never fixed the problems with the traffic maps from last time).
Please explain what, exactly, makes this version any better! – Bruce Linderman, on August 20, 2009 16:27-
