Adding a new place didn't round-trip my tags on error, and could guess country.Entering a new place, "Food Carts SW 4th & Hall", I entered several tags, but forgot to set the country. Two problems:
- This happens every time I enter a new place. You've got a static list of states - you could set the country my state is in if there's no ambiguity...
- When I was returned to the add-place page with the error message, the tags I'd entered were gone. (I added them manually after creating the place.)

Weird handling of "/@" in a shout?I entered this shout on m.shizzow.com (from the Gerding Theater in Portland, OR at around 7:15PM 4/30/09):
@bryanstearns/@ginabean at @frost/@nixon
but the shout appears like this:
@bryanstearns/people/ginabean at @frost/people/nixon
Note the apparent translation of "/@" into "/people/" ... This weirdness only happens when I view this shout on Shizzow's web pages (mobile or standard), but *not* when the shout is relayed into my Twitter stream - on Twitter, the shout appears as I intended.

Twitter friend import uses wrong name in post URLFound while importing my Twitter friends:
- It looks like the action URL for the Listen button is using my friend's Twitter name, not their Shizzow name.
- Also, minor: The Listen button's alt-text is "Send Invitation"; I can understand why it would be "send invitation" for someone set to "private", but it appears to be this for all users (or is this just a copy/paste error from the "invite to shizzow" button?).

Change shout email format, to be more useful to GMail usersSuggestion: Change the email format to start with the shout message (if any), to save me from having to open most shout emails.
Currently, the message looks like:
>gina shouted from Clyde Common on Jan 04, 2009 6:30 pm.
>
>"Yummy burger!"
Some mailreaders (eg, GMail) show the first line of text in the message list; for shout emails, it's information I already know (since the email subject is the user & place, and the email date is pretty close to the shout date).
I'm suggesting that you put the shout message first - maybe like
>"Yummy burger!"
> -- gina, shouting from Clyde Common on Jan 04, 2009 6:30 pm.
(If there's no messge, the current format's fine.)

Shouting from a "new" existing location on m.shizzow didn't workI tried to shout from Keoki's Paradise in Poipu, HI. I searched for "keoki", which found "Keoki's Paradise", yay. I entered my shout message and clicked "Shout".
I got a page telling me I was first to shout from this location (even though I hadn't entered it from scratch), and asking me to confirm its details. In red, it said that the city was blank but required, so I entered "Poipu".
First minor problem: My choices from here were "save" and "save & shout". There ought to be one button here, since I'd already entered my shout on the previous page.
The major problem, though, is that both buttons lead to a page that had no content (other than the Shizzow logo and footer). When I clicked the Shizzow logo, I was sent back to my main page, which reported my previous shout as my most recent.
All this was around 9PM PDT on 10/14/08, if you're log-spelunking.
I haven't attempted to duplicate this problem on the non-mobile shizzow.com, so Keoki's Paradise is still in the same situation, if you want to investigate. (If you come here to try, order the Tai Chi - it's like a mai tai, but less sweet.)

Bryan Stearns replied on September 11, 2008 22:31 to the problem "Deleting a recent shout deletes all recent shouts from that location" in Shizzow:
Hi Ryan - thanks. I didn't realize that there was an internal distinction between "shouts" and "messages"; I guess I thought there was just one thing, and output formatting cleverly grouped those things that applied to the same place.
Certainly, the UI does convey what will happen: there's one X in the "shout" box, and clicking it deletes all the messages for that shout. I guess I was just surprised that what I wanted to do (fix the typo on the most recent message) caused me to lose both messages (as it happens, the earlier one was longer and funnier.) Maybe the X could just delete the most recent message, and if it happened to be the only message for that shout, it could delete the shout too?

Deleting a recent shout deletes all recent shouts from that locationEarlier today, I shouted that I'd arrived at UGNW.
Just now, I used the cool new "leave" feature to shout that I was leaving UGNW, "headed hom".
I noticed that I'd left off the "e" in "home", so I hit the "x" in the bottom-right corner of the box containing "Urban Grind NW" and those two shouts, and they *both* disappeared.
It'd be nice to only remove the most recent one - I can always hit the X again if I want 'em both gone.

Thanks, Ryan and Ryan,
Mr. Snyder, I understand how listening to myself would make this work, but like Mr. W, I don't think I need notifications of my own shouts (but wouldn't mind them) - it's primarily the dashboard (that's my "home" page, right?) where I think seeing my shouts would be useful.
I already see my own shouts on 'place' pages where I've shouted, so that's nice. I just looked, briefly, and didn't see any other places where I saw shouts listed in a personalized way (the "listening" and "listeners" lists are just people, not shouts, and the only RSS feed I found was only my shouts - did I miss anywhere? I'm hoping that "the API" will also let me get the shouts from those I'm listening to with mine included, too.)
Thanks for thinking about this little suggestion.

See my own shoutsI'd like to see my own shouts on my home page - it'll show me the context other people saw when I shouted. (I'm used to this on Twitter).

Extra space in favorite-place shout textareaTiny problem: When I click "SHOUT_MESSAGE" on my home page to shout from a favorite place, I get an textarea for my message that already has a space in it, that ends up starting my message. Minor, and it looks like you strip the extra space, but I notice it every dang time.

Special-case "home" place?"Home" would be a useful special-case place (otherwise, everyone has to come up with a clever name for theirs, and I'm tired of mine already; most people would want the address to be vague, if not private, too).
