I think I've seen this happen twice too, but I've never mentioned it because I wasn't sure. – bufulo, on July 28, 2009 03:18

Same here regarding "invisible taps" in the center row. I'm not 100% sure they aren't related to a miss or near-miss in one of the other lanes though. I definitely see this happen more often in Extreme type songs but I swear I've seen it in much easier songs - I just don't play those very often either. – bufulo, on July 28, 2009 02:58

Are you familiar with the firmware downgrade procedure? It's not really documented very well anywhere, but you have to be sure your device is in "DFU Mode," not "Recovery Mode." Then you can downgrade the firmware, assuming you have the proper firmware file (they are different for iPhone vs. iPod). – bufulo, on July 28, 2009 02:55

I suppose it's a different issue by definition, but I guarantee they're related. It's just how the hardware & Apple OS works! Regardless of how you describe it, more careful filtering of accelerometer events in TTR should be able to eliminate the issues with arrows.
Now that I've downgraded my iPod Touch 2G to Apple OS 2.2 & still see the same issues with TTR2.6.2, I'm not convinced Apple OS 3.0 is entirely to blame. No doubt there were changes in Apple OS 3.0 that did have an effect on TTR, but I now suspect those changes may have only better exposed poorly written portions of the TTR software. I hope it's just a matter of the OS evolving faster than Tapulous can keep up. Maybe the OS 3.1 TTR 3.x combo will finally get it right! Impatient fingers crossed! :) – bufulo, on July 28, 2009 01:28

Not quite. 18 Days froze when I first tried to play it. Had to Delete & download again. Same with Rude Boy Come Test.
It's really late. I need to get some sleep & spend more time with this before I post too much. – bufulo, on July 26, 2009 09:47

Oh, one thing that is different is that the songs download MUCH faster & without interruption. I had to download them all again. The last time I tried this, I could only get a few songs at a time. This time it downloaded like it did a long time ago. This could have nothing to do with the firmware though. – bufulo, on July 26, 2009 09:22

So you have no problems with ANY of the arrows in 18 Days? There are at least 2 that I absolutely cannot hit green (or even light blue) no matter what. They are almost always red because there are 2 in a row & shaking the first one causes the 2nd to turn red. This still happens even after downgrading the firmware on my iPod Touch 2G! – bufulo, on July 26, 2009 09:19

No doubt. What firmware version do you have right now? 1st or 2nd generation iPod Touch? What version of TTR2? – bufulo, on July 26, 2009 09:17
A comment on the question "HELP!! Arrows won't work in tap tap!" in Tapulous:
I just downgraded my iPod Touch from Apple OS 3.0 to 2.2 & it DID NOT completely solve ANYof these problems! It is playable again, but not like it was before installing Apple OS 3.0. I'm still seeing dropped taps & arrows! This is REALLY bizarre!
Maybe it has something to do with the "baseband" portion of the firmware which apparently cannot be downgraded. Either that or the interaction between the OS & baseband. Worst case scenario I suppose is Apple OS 3.0 actually damaged the hardware (seem really unlikely).
This is some really really really weird stuff! Maybe I'll try downgrading even further to OS 2.0. – bufulo, on July 26, 2009 09:07
bufulo replied on July 25, 2009 03:19 to the problem "Score changed in online game!" in Tapulous:
Just happened AGAIN! Things appeared to be fixed for a few hours tonite, but I guess not. I just finished a game with 815k, winning by about 30k. My score was shown correctly in the Room until I was awarded my hard earned +10 points. :)
Then, while I was still sitting in the Room, my score changed to 775k & started flashing! I left the room about 10 seconds after my score started flashing, before it stopped flashing. Fortunately I didn't lose any points.

I never said it didn't work MOST of the time. It just didn't work 3 times. It should work ALL the time. – bufulo, on July 24, 2009 22:23

Leaderboards not accepting scores.I've submitted 3 high scores & they were never posted to the Leaderboard in the past 24 hours or so. It appeared to be accepted, but the Leaderboard shows one of my older (lower) scores instead of the new higher score.-

Just happened AGAIN! This time it was on Birthright. I finished with 653k & the room showed 443k. My (incorrect) score kept flashing & of course I lost a lovely 18 points.
Again, FWIW, this was the first game I played after a full Reset, Erase, & Restore of my iPhone. Also, I did win this game & the last game assuming the other player's scores were accurate.
No more online play for me until this problem is acknowledged & fixed!

Score changed in online game!I thought I saw this happen the other day too, but now I'm positive. I played Heregoesnothin online & finished with a score of 903k. When it transferred back into the room, my score was only 859k!
I'm 100% positive this happened! FWIW, this was after a fresh restart of TTR2, full battery, Airplane Mode (WIFI on), on an iPhone 3GS.
A comment on the problem "Stop Higher "Ranked" Players From Earning Points In Easier Rooms" in Tapulous:
For the most part, we all have the same issues with game performance. Obviously those need to be fixed but that's a different issue. – bufulo, on July 22, 2009 01:40
A comment on the problem "Stop Higher "Ranked" Players From Earning Points In Easier Rooms" in Tapulous:
I think the TTR performance issues are definitely one key reason so many people are interested in this topic lately. It really sucks to lose Revenge, points, & rank when you didn't make a mistake. Solve this & most of these complaints will go away.
However, if you truly have a bad game regularly enough for 21 points to matter much, your rank SHOULD go down. The current scoring system seems fair enough to me but the points farming & room limits sort of suck. – bufulo, on July 22, 2009 01:29
