"Herunterladen" lädt die Datei runter - in den Cache, den du in den Optionen einstellen/verschieben kannst. Danach kannst du die Datei per Doppelklick in Wuala oder über die Dateisystemintegration auf deinem Betriebssystem (was auch immer du nutzt...) öffnen und sie wird im Hintergrund automatisch entschlüsselt.
"Speichern unter..." erzwingt dieses Entschlüsseln und kopiert die entschlüsselte Datei auch an eine von dir gewünschte Stelle.
Fehlschlagen können Downloads leider immer mal (z.B. mögen viele Router es gar nicht, wenn Wuala viel UDP-Traffic mit verschiedenen IPs erzeugt und machen dann erstmal ne Nachdenkpause) - falls du keinen Speicher tauschst, kannst du es ja mal mit dem Kompatibilitätsmodus in den Verbindungseinstellungen versuchen, das sollte die Netzwerkhardware etwas schonen.-

Was "funzt" bei "Speichern unter..." nicht? Fehlermeldungen? Popups?
Die heruntergeladenen Daten sind verschlüsselt, das wird dir wenig weiterhelfen - erst mit "Speichern unter..." werden sie entschlüsselt. -

There are other solutions that are better suited for this approach - Wuala is an _online_ storage system, not a distributed filesystem.
Cleversafe for example offers something that is really similar to Wuala but has to be built manually - this could be your solution (or other distributed filesystems like AFS, DFS etc.) -

Where exactly did you find registry keys from Wuala? I only found a few (=2) "shell open commands" in HKCR/HKCU, a few "OpenWithList" entries (also made by Windows itself) and an entry for the FSI from Windows itself as well. None of those were made by Wuala so it would be interesting what exactly you did find - maybe there's a bug somewhere?
I agree though that Quicktime is rubbish - especially on Windows (and the "Apple updater" that "suggests" Safari etc. is even more evil than QT itself!)
Nice to hear that your computer runs fine again, however since Wuala does _not_ usually prolong the startup of Windows (which Version btw?) I guess it might be a bug/error that you encountered. If you feel the urge to warn against a program that doesn't even have to be installed to run (and because of that doesn't have an uninstaller currently) have fun, but I doubt that the experience you had was the usual one - and I didn't find a bug report from you so there's no way to recreate this behaviour + fix it. – Bugreport, on March 26, 2009 09:54 -

And _I_ wonder what these "trustworthy" programs are breaking. The registry is fine, you don't need to "fix" it.
I'm no developer and what's making your computer slow is more likely this "trustworthy registry cleaning" software... Btw. why do you think a Java application that runs on multiple platforms would use the Windows registry extensively?

Ihre Verbindung ist für das Tauschen von Speicherplatz nicht geeignet.
Bitte aktivieren Sie UPnP auf Ihrem Router/Firewall oder konfigurieren Sie diesen so, dass eingehende UDP Verbindungen auf Port 7.878 für diesen Computer gestattet sind. Danach kann es nötig sein, Ihren Router und/oder Wuala neu zu starten.
Im Firewall Log taucht dann folgendes auf:
Geblockt | Mar 24 17:47:21 | WAN | 78.47.15.189:13203 | 10.3.8.187:54788 | UDP
10.3.8.187 ist die IP des "Routers" die vom Modem als DHCP-Diktator (äääh Server) vergeben wurde und den Port 54788 habe ich sicher nirgendwo eingestellt - wieso wird der verwendet und nicht der (weitergeleitete und eingestellte) Port 7878 UDP? Überwachen "normale" Router diese hohen Ports nicht und schleifen die sonst immer gleich durch? Gibt es da irgendwelche Sachen, die Router normalerweise machen, aber pfsense (=FreeBSD mit Webinterface) nicht, bzw. nur nachdem man noch etwas extra konfiguriert hat?
Ich habe auch schon testweise ein paar IPs von Wuala (78.47.15.184 - 78.47.15.191) auf die Ausnahmeliste gesetzt, trotzdem wird meine Verbindung davon nicht "geeigneter" - nur die Einträge im Log verschwinden natürlich.
Wie kann ich diese Sache debuggen und wo genau liegt das Problem? -

Freut mich dass ich helfen konnte - ja, ich finde auch, dass die Onlinezeit besser "gesichert" werden sollte (im Moment habe ich einfach in Wuala Kopien meiner Machine.dat Dateien meiner PCs) - immerhin hängt da unter Umständen Speicher im Wert von bis zu 100€ dran! -

Some users report that Wuala now seems to upload files initially not only to the servers 100% but additionally to the cloud on the first upload. So a 100MB file would be uploaded to the servers (100MB) and to the P2P network for better speed (another ???MB). If the upload breaks before, it already is on the server 100% and will be maintained.
It seems that the first maintenace cycle was integrated in the first upload to better use P2P. It's just a bit confusing, maybe someday it can be displayed more clearly how and where the files are stored atm. -

Da du Wuala während des Betriebes quasi die Identität geklaut hast (die machine.dat) dürfte es auf 10% Onlinezeit mit einer neuen Identität zurückgefallen sein.
Was passiert, wenn du Wuala neu startest, den Datenordner auf einen beliebigen NEUEN Ordner auf der externen Festplatte festlegst, Wuala beendest und alle Dateien (mit Überschreiben eventuell bestehender Dateien) aus dem alten Ordner auf der externen Festplatte in den neuen Ordner kopierst? -

I'm not sure how this device should compare to Wuala or is relevant in any way? It's a simple (and expensive...) NAS, nothing more. -
