Bugreport replied on February 25, 2009 20:51 to the idea "Priority to other LAN users over Wuala server or WAN Cloud ?" in Wuala:
http://www.cleversafe.org/ works _very_ similar to Wuala but does not offer a network itself - you have to provide the servers and everything.

Try to replace your Wuala.exe with this one if you have more than 1GB of RAM:

I'd love to see some kind of "Wuala server" that you could set up for your LAN...
and of course also the long awaited LAN-awareness!
Both will take a while though since at first the p2p system has to be more solid and also testable (via automated tests) because such changes could easily break Wuala if not applied carefully!

Bugreport replied on February 24, 2009 11:31 to the question "Local cache considered as empty when moved ?" in Wuala:
Please study the FAQ for your first questions (what is maintenance, will files be updated)
Your files are usually cached locally - if you look at them in Wuala you'll maybe see if they are downloaded (they have a green box in the lower right icon corner when selected) - then tey're cached too and access should be as fast as your harddrive can deliver them and Wuala can decrypt them (AES usually is rather fast to decrypt so mostly the limiting factor would be the HDD).

Bugreport replied on February 23, 2009 14:31 to the question "Showing progress on other computers?" in Wuala:
Atm there is no way, though I personally would love to have this information too!
Maybe an update every 5% or just "on demand"? This could however be a bit bad if my computer has to upload and then even answer requests from possibly hundreds of other computers how far the file is uploaded yet - so a server side solution would be fine.
Bugreport replied on February 23, 2009 12:16 to the problem "Rechner (XP) stürzt nach Datei-Einfügen oder Kommentieren ab | Computer (XP) crashes after adding a file or a comment" in Wuala:
Wow, sounds strange...
Have you tried leaving the group and being reinvited?
Since this is the first time I hear of such things please contact support@wuala.com with your problem because I guess they'll want to know some more details that you might not want to disclose here in a public board.

A comment on the question "Upload from HTTP Source direct to Wuala" in Wuala:
You would still have to download it with my approach, but it could be even done without downloading at all (though more insecure I guess).
Since the bottleneck on most DSL-Lines is Upload though, it would still be faster to download the file and insert it and let the server handle the uploading as I proposed. – Bugreport, on February 20, 2009 23:02
Bugreport replied on February 20, 2009 20:36 to the question "Upload from HTTP Source direct to Wuala" in Wuala:
No, the server would get the link, download the file, encrypt it (this is done with the Hash of the unencrypted file as key - same for every file) and store the file temporarily (for let's say 3 days).
Then you download the file from your link, add it to your Wuala installation/account and you don't have to upload it anymore because it's already there on the server. You have 3 days to do so in my example, after that you could still add the file to Wuala but the upload would have to be done by yourself since you cannot expect the server to just add any file you throw at it even if not even a single user is able to access the file - that's why you have to add it afterwards yourself on your local PC.
FXP is just kind of an FTP-mode, I don't see much problem there.
I personally am against login on the server(s) to be able to upload files from the web without even haveing them once on our computers, since that would definitely defeat the idea of the "only you know what's in your account!"-principle.

The encryption + uploading could be done on the servers as well I guess but you would still have to download the file before you can insert it into Wuala to create the necessary metadata + stuff. The upload would be very fast though because the server already would have the file. – Bugreport, on February 20, 2009 17:25
Bugreport replied on February 20, 2009 17:19 to the question "JAVA binary Fehler" in Wuala:
Da eine ähnliche Fehlermeldung auch bei mir immer mal auftaucht (eigentlich nach jedem Update oder jedesmal wenn ich Wuala beende) hab ich mal im Ereignisprotokoll nachgeschaut und bin auf diese Fehlermeldung gestoßen:
Fehlerhafte Anwendung javaw.exe, Version 6.0.100.32, Zeitstempel 0x48ca2ff2, fehlerhaftes Modul Win32NetBIOS.dll, Version 0.0.0.0, Zeitstempel 0x46cb00ff, Ausnahmecode 0xc0000409, Fehleroffset 0x000015a8, Prozess-ID 0x978, Anwendungsstartzeit 01c9908550494900.
OS ist übrigens Windows Server 2008 x64 (also Vista SP1)
Kurzes googlen hat diesen Beitrag hervorgebracht, der insofern interessant ist, da Wuala Alfrescos JLan Server nutzt:

I also would love to have this feature (I'm no official employee, just kind of a forum moderator btw, don't get confused or excited...) and also tried to convince the devs to implement something like this a short while ago.
I don't have an answer yet though *stares at Oona* so I can't tell you if it's even possible or not. I however think that it could be possible to implement something like that and that it is just a matter of priorities, roadmap and stuff...
Bugreport replied on February 20, 2009 14:55 to the problem "yellow connection status on startup after a longer downtime (apparently: db reorg)" in Wuala:
Maybe this was a really old installation and this was the reorganisation/compression of the local metadata (which is a one-time process) - a feature that was introduced a few months back?
(I know, old thread but apparently either someone still has this problem(?) or just typed the buzzword "yellow icon" in the search box and this thread came up...)
Bugreport replied on February 20, 2009 14:52 to the problem "private link to a file without sharing the whole folder content" in Wuala:
No Bug, working as intended.
Only Folders (and their subfolders) can be shared, not individual files.
Btw. if you create a secret link it is displayed (at least in the german client) that you are creating a password for the whole folder and not just for a single file in the dialog.
Maybe this could be displayed more obvious though...
