LinkedIn Groups Approval pages keep failing with "There was an unexpected problem that prevented us from completing your request." (for at least 5 days now). I've started a tech support ticket, but the problem still exists, I wanted to see if anyone else was having similar issues.

    Thanks,

    Tech support request ticket: 2/17/09
I am trying to approve members for my "4h alumni" group. I go through the normal process but I keep getting errors.
    from here:
    http://www.linkedin.com/home?myGroups...
I then click "MANAGE: 15 requests to join" for the group "4H Alumni" (http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=27829)
    then I get an error:
"There was an unexpected problem that prevented us from completing your request."
this error has shown up from at least 2 URLs:
    URL1: http://www.linkedin.com/manageGroupMe...
    URL2: http://www.linkedin.com/manageGroupMe...
I think I finally got the names approved I needed to, but I have been having problems approving people in this group for the past 2-3 days (started about 2/14/09). What is wrong? Is anyone else having similar issues?

This is now happening for other groups also, it got better for the first group, then came back a few days later, and is now affecting other groups as well.

I had the same problem, it came back but then takes forever or fails again whenever Iclick, so it still isn't 100% yet, but getting better I hope.....

Ben Burnett asked a question in LinkedIn on July 11, 2008 14:28:

    Ben Burnett
Can identical groups be combined on LinkedIn?
    Can identical groups be combined?

I have found 9 identical groups for Iowa State Alumni (and at least 6 Minnesota groups and 3+ Iowa Groups) using the new group search feature. I am in process of joining and contacting these group leaders to see if we can all join into a single group and get their approval and buy-in. Is there a way to do this? if all the group owners agree, It seams like this would be advantageous to both the users and LinkedIn to reduce overlapping groups and clean-up the site a bit.

    Thanks,

Is the Export Link on LinkedIn Groups is Gone.
I just noticed that the Export Link on LinkedIn Groups is Gone. Managers now have no way of getting at this functionality. I found the URL to use from my history, it's:

    http://www.linkedin.com/groupMembersE...

but it doesn't work, I just takes me back to my LinkedIn Home page.... I assume this is another way to limit people/groups from using competing sites with their groups, I just last week exported the list and invited members to join a yahoo discussion group, since LinkedIn doesn't provide this functionality, I've been doing my groups as a mix of both LinkedIn+Yahoo which I think works well. apparently they didn't think so. or perhaps they got complaints from people I invited or something and felt this was the best way to limit the behavior. but you can still cut-n-paste the member list one page at a time to get the info...

any comments? LinkedIn, is this a temporary thing? is the functionality coming back? why did you remove this?
