bwoodsdesign reported a problem in Blinksale on July 16, 2009 06:53:
Invoice e-mails are treated as spam. Many of my clients' e-mail services (Hotmail, Comcast, Earthlink, etc.) seem to consider the word "invoice" as a spam word, and so then my clients DON'T get the e-mails asking them to pay or reminding them. The subject cannot currently be modified by us, customers, to change this problem. Please consider adding a custom "subject" field in the settings or Invoice e-mail settings, for Blinksale users to change as needed and avoid this issue.
This is a pain because many of my invoices are recurring and I have to log into Blinksale and see that after 10-20 days, recurring invoices are not paid because they don't get to the client's inbox, instead to their spam/bulk mail filter. So then I have to copy my reminder e-mail text, send a link to MYSELF and then send the client a manual e-mail with a custom subject since 'invoice' triggers spam filters. Kind of defeats the purpose of recurring e-mails, if I have to do this all myself!
Also having the "from" data be "do-not-reply@blinksale.com" (or something like that) probably doesn't help matters. Instead of doing a reply-to, I wonder how hard it would be to have Blinksale enable our OWN e-mail address as the sender, since the client is more likely have us whitelisted, not Blinksale.
Thanks!

As a happy customer since 2006, I have been very thankful for Blinksale. If it weren't for that, I would not have gotten paid as successfully.
Am lookng at Zoho right now though, because all the negative comments/experiences have me worried, also because of all Zozo's extra features--and for the price, well, heck! I only send out so many invoices/month, so no need to have 50/mo account...kinda wasteful.
Trying right now to do an import into Zoho from Blinksale, but no go. Waiting on feedback from them. We shall see. So far, Zoho has Blinksale beat on a few features, not to mention price. And it's secure, even at the free plan (5 invoices/mo).-

Why not just use a recurring invoice template? I have several clients who all get billed either yearly, twice-yearly, every 3 months, or monthly for the same service, but each client is billed at different times, on the anniversary date.
So I set up a template called "Quarterly - XYZ service", input the items/cost, notes/etc., then set up the rebill cycle to every 90 days. Once I save it, I can go back and then add each client one at a time, who is billed this same service, and change the date on "Start billing this client" to each respective date they get billed.
For example, if i have someone signing up for hosting in September, they'd get billed in September, then again in January.
Done, and done.-

bwoodsdesign replied on July 15, 2009 21:58 to the idea "credit note facility" in Blinksale:
Agreed, a great idea and one feature I'd definitely use again and again. I'm often having to use a negative number to reflect a credit (i.e., when someone needs to send me a deposit upfront for a project that costs $1200.00, they only need to pay $600 for me to start, so I have to put in $-600 to reflect that, then adjust to a positive number when the final balance is due.
If we could use credits (positive numbers), this would end the extra work we all do for that.

I definitely agree. There were times that I had to delete a line or else copy/paste info from one to another, in order to make sense of them. Especially since I like to re-cycle invoices - i.e, using the same invoice for a client to bill them for a deposit upfront, then add the remaining items at final due date. Not so much because I make mistakes, but rather because I often add retroactive info.-
