Well, as of today, I'm back in Spokane. I just got back. I was living in Prague for the past semester studying abroad. :) – lilmisstravel, on January 08, 2009 15:24

I saw some in Basel, in the SBB station. And I think I saw some in Interlaken as well. – lilmisstravel, on November 28, 2008 16:08

I'm a junior at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, and I've been a Timbuk2 girl for years. I'm on my second Timbuk2 messenger, and sadly replaced mine last year after I wore it out. My current bag is a camera bag when I'm on photography jobs, a dance bag when I have rehearsals, a bookbag when I'm at school, and since i'm studying abroad right now, it's a travel bag that i somehow fit my life into almost every weekend (i might need a bigger bag!). During the summer, I bike to work and to school, sometimes during the school year too - depending on how much snow we get. Here, I take my bag from my job (teaching English) onto the metro, to the train station and next month, back across the Atlantic. Living in Prague (for the second time since converting to Timbuk2), you always have to be able to access your bag for books to study on the metro, or to switch the songs on my Zune, or to show my bus pass to the annoying security guy, but since the city is crawling with pickpockets, I know several girls who've had stuff stolen. Since getting my Timbuk2 bag, I've stopped carrying a purse, and I've never had anything stolen. I can fit 2 good sized textbooks, my Canon DSL camera, a water bottle, all my necessities (Zune, wallet, snacks, scarf, dictionary, etc) in the bag on an average day, and still have space to fit that perfect souvenir or groceries when I hit the store on the way home from classes.
I switched to a messenger bag because I couldn't find a good backpack, and until recently, I haven't regretted it. But lately, the bag is getting too small, and I need something to carry my clothes, books, food, (for those days where I'm on campus all day) and that fits my small frame. Some of my friends joke that they've never seen me without my Timbuk2, and it's true. The only reason I haven't bought a second one for my camera gear is that you keep coming out with so many new bags that I can't decide which one to buy.
I need a bag that can take me to and from every aspect of my life - student, barista, photographer, dancer, travel, and on my bike, to name a few. While most of my year is spent as a city girl, my family is from the country, and I've even been known to take my T2 out for a ride on the ATV when I'm home. I'd love to test out a backpack by you guys, especially if it lives up to the standards of your messenger bags.

Best Timbuk2 Camera Bag?Basically, what is your opinion? The messenger, the metro? a tote? Since Timbuk2 hasn't made us a camera bag yet, I'd like some ideas of what you've used before I get one. I was thinking the metro, but I'm not sure yet.
Thanks!

well, i'm an early 20's girl in jeans and converse who travels a lot and I have a small custom messenger.
On an average day going to classes, I can fit: 2 spiral notebooks (both 1 subject or 1 sub/3 sub) and a text book (say an 8.5x11 in one). plus my planner, water bottle (not a full size nalgene, the half size one), keys, phone, camera, pens, pencils, random junk, sunglasses, etc. it gets kinda squishy, but i'm good at packing.
Basically, you could fit everything in a small. I don't like the medium, my mom has one and it seems huge to me (but I'm 5'1", so that's relative)
hope that helps! :)

It'd also be nice to do something smaller, like with the metro bag. I mean, sometimes I just want my camera, a couple rolls of film...plus the usual junk i carry around (usb, wallet, water bottle, etc). I have a small messenger, but when all I want is my camera and not a lot of other stuff, it's too big. So...come on Timbuk2!

"old clam-shell Samsonite"
take a look at International Traveler bags. (www.luggageonline.com) last spring I purchased one of their hardshell bags. It's expandable (59", i think. which is right under international limits.) It is wheeled, but it only weighs 7 lbs or so. It gets scuffed, but I like it. And, it's pretty bottomless.

I think Target should be congratulating you for finding a good use for their environmentally unfriendly bags! Or even paying you for making the world a better place. And, I'm pretty sure a timbuk2 lamitron bag will be a lot stronger than a Target plastic bag, so therefore, you're giving Target a better reputation than they already have...

lilmisstravel replied on October 18, 2007 19:16 to the question "shoulder strap length" in Timbuk2:
Ok, that makes a lot more sense.
I like programmer #1's idea, you could slice out a section in the center and sew/rivet (riveting would be more manly and you could make it look really cool) it together again. Just make sure to burn the edges so it doesn't fray. The only thing I can think of is to make sure those rivets or stitches don't hit you on the shoulder or somewhere where it'll hurt.
PS-one of my best friends is 6'8"...and every time he comes over, he hits his head on the door. I can understand your height challenges!
