Twitter IM is offline for the moment, even though the Twitter website is up. They post daily updates regarding their efforts to restore full services at http://status.twitter.com

Hi. First I want to say that I am using a gmail address with Google Talk.

Ok. I am able to add "twitter@twitter.com" into my G-Talk buddy list

It shows up in there with "(invited)" next to it.

Then I click the name and send that little text code to it but I get this message:

"twitter@twitter.com is offline and can't receive messages right now."

How is Twitter offline? Server problems? The site is working fine. Some professional help please!
