Don't force us to use ow.lyWe know that ow.ly isn't the best. Why does HootSuite force us to use it?
They say it's for statistics. But for example there's an bit.ly API which lets you get the statistis of your shortened urls. Maybe other URL shortening has the same feature too...
Currently Co-Tweet which is an another Twitter account management tool, use bit.ly API for statistics. I believe HootSuite can do this too.
If ow.ly becomes more popular and more useful in the future, we will be happy to use it. But now it isn't.
We can decide what is best for us, give us some options.
Please don't force us to use ow.ly ;)-

Thank you for your fast reply. If someone (for example; me) uses bit.ly only for Twitter, it isn't important.

A comment on the idea "ow.ly stats need to catch up to bit.ly" in HootSuite:
Hello Moni,
I try to reply. Firstly bit.ly has an API support and we can use it with another apps.
For example, Tweet This (Wordpress Plug-in) supports bit.ly because of it's API. Users can share the post on Twitter with an short URL by clicking a button on your blog. And on the admin panel, it sends tweets of new posts with bit.ly links automaticly.
It means we can track more results so Hootsuite will be more useful for us. And currently you can get the data by bit.ly API. Just research it...
As you know, currently ow.ly isn't better than bit.ly. I hope it will, but now it isn't. Because of this please don't force us to use ow.ly ;) – Çağdaş Ünal, on September 03, 2009 18:16-

I think you're wrong because Bit.ly currently has an API and you can show the statistics at your service. Co-Tweet currently uses it, I think you can too. Please don't force us to use ow.ly ;) – Çağdaş Ünal, on September 03, 2009 17:51

I agree with Renato. Because bit.ly has an API and currently Tweet This supports it which is a Wordpress plug-in that helps visitors to share the post on Twitter.
It means we can track more links and view more statistics with HootSuite. You know Co-Tweet app currently has this feature. So I think you can too ;)
Please don't force us to use ow.ly, you know we live in web 2.0 and it's API time.-
