We thought we fixed the bug causing the invalid pin error. If you're still having a problem after deleting and re-adding your phone number once, please file a bug report here:

and include as much information as you can, such as any errors received, and if you've tried deleting/re-verifying, etc.

You can also send an email to support@twitter.com, with an email subject "invalid pin."

We're working on it now, and hope to have a resolution soon.

I'm in Australia and have to use the UK number. This happened to me as well, forcing me to set a PIN I didn't want/need. This seems to be an international number problem, if any conclusions can be gleaned from some of the comments here.

It'd be grand if someone with some knowledge on the matter would reply. :|

Same problem for me too - just the last few days, getting "PIN is invalid" when I've never set a PIN. Started when I briefly set Twitter to send my phone notifications of direct messages, but continued after I turned that off again. Tried deleting and starting again, same problem. Very frustrating - the only fix I've found is to, well, actually set a PIN. Which I didn't want to do.

I've never had a problem before, nor a PIN set up, and I'm getting that error. I'm in the UK - could the system have taken against the international dialing codes?

This keeps happening to me too, I delete and start over, and then the next day the problem is back. It means I can't sort it out until I can get to a computer, so an entire day is lost, and then I have to pay for another text to twitter to set it up again.

Some people, at least, find that Delete and start over? eliminates the unwanted PIN. Please let us know if this works for you.

I'm having this same issue. I haven't set a PIN, but I'm still getting the "PIN is invalid" error. Have tried removing and re-instating the phone- no dice. Mobile twittering worked great until yesterday.

ETA: It does work if I set a new pin. I'd rather not have to, but at least it's working, albeit with limitations. Hopefully it continues to work.

I am also having this problem and it's super frustrating. I changed my phone number (because I am now travelling in another country) and although Twitter recognizes my device and does send me updates via SMS, when I try to do anything via the Canadian update number (21212) I get the message "Your PIN is invalid." but here is the thing -- I haven't set a PIN!

I also tried deleting and re-verifying... same problem.
